Currently, Addison does not collect the hotel occupancy tax on these short term rentals and there is no registration of properties required. Nearby cities Coppell and Grapevine both have regulations in place, and Coppell, McKinney, and Plano collect the occupancy tax.
There have been complaints by neighbors near some of the Addison homes being used for short term rentals. Grapevine is involved in a legal case over the policy that they adopted for their city.
