GW Birthday Parade Info Feb 18, 2019
FAMILY FRIENDLY FUN EVENT IN ALEXANDRIA, VA.
Alexandria has a rich history of celebrating the birth of our first President. Ever since the Revolutionary War his birthday has been celebrated with dances, performances, and parades, and in 1976 – our country’s Bicentennial – the George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee was begun to organize these celebrations.
One of the most festive celebrations and the oldest and largest — with thousands of participants — is the George Washington Birthday Parade, an annual parade held on the third Monday in February, this year held on Presidents’ Day, Monday February 18, 2019. George Washington’s actual ( 287th) birthday is February 22. He was born in 1732.
The parade is a mile long and takes place in Old Town. Parade route map in video also complete in Full BLOG HERE, which starts at the corner of Gibbon and Fairfax streets, heads all the way up to Queen Street and loops around left to head back down Royal Street, where it concludes at Wilkes Street.

An Amazing Farmer's Market
Old Town Market Square Farmers' Market
How many towns can say their farmer's market has been in business in the United States since 1753? Probably only Alexandria's Old Town Farmers Market, which many believe is the oldest such market in the nation. In fact, it's been around so long that George Washington once sold the produce he grew at Mount Vernon at this market. You got to admit that's pretty amazing.
