How to Make Your House Smell Amazing with Essential Oils

Education & Training with Heidi Naturally

Whether you're wanting to sell your house or make it smell good for guests, essential oils can enhance the atmosphere in just minutes. All you need is an essential oil diffuser and pure essential oils

Houses can start smelling pretty bad especially if they are old, have been sitting empty, or have a lot of messy people living in them. First impressions are important. That first whiff is important because it sets the tone for what people think of your house.

If your house smells musty, they might think that it has some mold somewhere or something died in a wall. If it smells like dirty feet, then they might think that the house has not been well maintained.

When we first bought our house it smelled like old people (whatever that smells like). So we started some renovations. A lilac tree was blooming outside at that time so we brought some of the blooms in and the house instantly smelled great. I remember walking in when it smelled like fresh wood because of all the construction we had started. From then on, our house started smelling more like a newer house and that made me happy.

Then many years later we discovered essential oils and have enjoyed changing the smell and mood of our house in minutes. Whatever condition your house is in, essential oils can improve the smell.

Best Essential Oils to Diffuse:

Citrus Fresh - This oil blend from Young Living is my favorite to diffuse because it's easy and has all the citrus oils in it. Who can smell and orange and not smile? Citrus oils are known to help with mental clarity and mood.

Stress Away - Who needs stress? Why not diffuse it away? Make your house a haven for people to come and feel de-stressed.

Peace and Calming - This Young Living blend helps people feel relaxed and at ease. You don't want to diffuse it for too long though because your guests might fall asleep. Lots of people diffuse this blend at night to help them and their children sleep better.

Valor - Did you know that Roman soldiers used to smell spruce oil before they went into battle to give them courage? This oil blend has spruce and many other oils that promote courage and self-esteem. If someone is looking to buy a house, they might be scared or apprehensive. If you diffuse Valor in the house, it may give them the boost they need to say, "I want to make an offer."

Thieves - So many people love the smell of this Young Living oil blend because it has cinnamon, lemon, and eucalyptus in it. It helps with immunity so it protects people from spreading things between them, but it also smells really good. If your house smells the least bit musty, this is the oil you want to diffuse to cover and eradicate that smell for good.

Good Diffusers and Diffuser Recipes

If you don't know what an essential oil diffuser is, check out this post. Basically, diffusers micronize the oil particles with water so that they can float around the room for everyone to enjoy.

When you start using oils, make sure you only use PURE essential oils. Who knows what kinds of additives, solvents, or chemicals are in other oils that could actually harm your lungs and those of your family and clients. You can get all the oils mentioned here PLUS a great diffuser (Desert Mist diffuser) all for half the retail cost when you order it all together in a kit

Get some more diffuser recipes once you get tired of these. Then you can experiment with different diffuser scents and see which one you like the best or which one sells more houses. There are lots of other fun blends to try like, Joy, Harmony, and more.

Let me know if you have any questions about any of these suggestions.
