When I die, I'm going to heaven, spent time in hell in the Vietnam War

There are many among us still suffering from the affects of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.  We honor those that gave their lives, limbs, mental health and are still enduring the remnants of the war today.

I was fortunate to be a relatively new Realtor in Santa Clarita, California in 1996 and had the good fortune to meet a couple selling their home.  The gentleman was walking through the home with an oxygen tank and apologized for his appearance.  He went on to explain that he was in the Vietnam War and had damaged his lungs from Agent Orange.  I listened intently and compassionately.  His wife was in the background listening and observing.  I explained that the war was no stranger to me as I also was in the Army during this horrendous war.

About four months after our meeting there was a phone call.  The person on the other end of the phone was the wife of this wonderful Veteran.  She wanted to thank me for the love and admiration I had given to her husband.  She explained that her husband had passed away due to the damage caused by Agent Orange.  She went on to say that her house was off the market and that she wanted to move out of state to be with her family.  She asked me if I would list her her home for her.  My heart was truly touched.  We listed her home and sold very soon there after.  She moved to Alabama and was very appreciative.  She has no idea how much her husband touched my heart and how great of an impact she had on my life with that call.

Respectfully,

Tony & Dani Lewis RE/MAX of Valencia

Tony, one of Diane's cousin's husband was also affected by Agent Orange and he has so many allergies, just to name one if he is near an "apple" the fruit..... things can get very bad and the list goes on and on... no-one seems to care about these Veterans.... they were in a war that "public opinion" was not on their side, but like you, served  honorably because they believed in the Constitution and the Principles it stands for.... don't get me started. Congratulation on a wonderful transaction hope you are submitting this to Lisa Von Domek  challenge this month, Endre

Hi Tony... your story touched my heart. Viet Nam was my generation's war and we are still paying for that war in terms of human lives and misery.

Good morning Tony. A terrible era for America. Many served fearlessly and were not respected for their service. Agent Orange ruined a lot of lives. Thank you for your service. Enjoy your day!

Thank you for your service to our country Tony Lewis and for sharing this lovely story with us.  Too many of our brave heroes have had to deal with the horrors of war long after they left the field.

Tony- I too thank you for your service and for sharing this very touching story. Our good friend in Delray was in Viet Nam and was one of the survivors of the Nine Days in May battle in 1967. He was shot twice in the back and had to play dead as the NVA walked among them.  We need to make our young people aware of the bravery of all of the men who fought in this war...one that many want to dismiss. Like Endre Barath, Jr. don't get me started.
