Sugar & Ice Creamery in Barrington, NH. ummmmmmm good

By

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.

Sugar & IcePerhaps you are unaware that there are actually statistics about nearly everything under the sun. Well I have heard it said that New Englanders consume more ice cream per capita than any other group of people!

That being said, I believe that we New Englanders are also "Ice Cream" snobs. Most any ice cream will not do for us. We like good ice cream. That geleto stuff or soft serve does not make it here although once in a while it's OK. We like homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors.Monika c judy tuscano

Recently we had a chance to spend the day with our friends and fellow Active Rain bloggers Monika and Jay McGillicuddy. As the day wore on "the big guy" began to talk about taking the McGillicuddys to a new ice cream place we recently discovered in Barrington , NH. So we all hopped into the car and drove the 15+/- miles to "Sugar and Ice" on Route 125 in Barrington.

sugar & ice c judy tuscanoThe ice cream here is still made one batch at a time in flavors sure to please the most discriminating pallet. The first time I went here I was hooked as the chocolate is not just chocolate it is Belguim Chocolate. Yes dark chocolate that makes me drool just thinking of the creamy delicacy.

If you are an ice cream connosour, find your way up to Barrington, NH and have a scoop or two of your favorite flavor or try something new. They serve this homemade treat in cups, standard sugar cones, homemade waffel cones, sundaes with numerous toppings, banana splits, brownie sundaes and the frozen list goes on.

BTW the propriter of this business was born and raised in Germany so my hubby was sure to introduce her to the McGillicuddys to give Jay an opportunity to practice his German

Hi Judy - we eat ice cream all year long, actually just had some about an hour ago.  And we do have some of the best ice cream all over NH.

Monika looks like she's trying to hide in that picture - where's your ice cream Monika???  ;-)

Ann - That's why we have the high intake of ice cream per capita here - we love the frozen stuff and don't care what the temperature is outside. lol

Monika did not want me to take her picture. Too bad since she thinks nothing of putting me on video and using it to pump up her ratings. lol

Thanks for stopping by - perhaps we can meet at "Sugar & Ice" sometime to enjoy a treat.

Judy, my very first job was in an ice cream store.  We like to make a run to marble slab here.  We did that when our daughter was home a few weeks ago.

Linda - The pink chairs are lovely and they have imaginative decor all around the lovely yellow building. I hope you were able to feed your craving.

Marchel - I think I would enjoy working at an ice cream place especially if I got to taste test the merchandise. lol

Moni - you have got a lot of mileage out of my shower demonstration, you mist admit.

There is no way in the world I could live anywhere near that place....unless they could haul me around in a piano crane to get my chocolate ice cream...lol

Clint - I agree that if it were closer than the 15 mile treck I would be in big trouble. That Belgium Chocolate was sooooooooooo good. Thanks for stopping by and if you are in NH give me a call and perhaps we can meet over a scoop!

Judy this is not fair.  The first time that I have stopped by your blog and you tempt me with something that I love but am trying to stay away from.  But after this comment I am going to have to go see what is in the freezer even though it will not be as good as the ice cream in your blog :) :)

Judy, now I am very much an ice cream connoisseur. I love GOOD ice cream but I won't eat ice cream for the sake of having ice cream. That pithy stuff they call ice cream doesn't fit the bill. I am soooooooooo jealous that you guys were out eating GOOD ice cream without me. And I absolutely am insane over dark chocolate.

That German guy needs to open one up over here in Sacramento.

Bill - It sounds like your son has good taste. Hope you get there soon and enjoy.

Sharon - At least your honest about your reason unlike Bill who wants to blame his son:) LOL

George - So sorry for the temptation. Instead of going to the freezer think about planning a trip to NH just for the ice cream. We can direct you to a few good spots.

Gena - Sometimes you have to eat the bad stuff to rule them out of your favs list. There are many places that advertise homemade but not all are equally good. I'm with you on the dark chocolate.

The German person who owns the place is a woman and next time we visit I'll have to tell her you will help her find a location in Sacremento to start her next place of business.
