This year the Capitol Beer Fest will be on March 2nd. This will be my fifth one and it is always a blast with over 125 brewers on hand and live music held on Sacramento's picturesque Capitol Mall.
Not only is this a fun time, but Capitol Beer Fest is the number one fundraiser for my favorite, local non-profit organization, Runnin for Rhett. This organization goes to local schools in the Sacramento region and trains thousands of children for, what is for many, their first 5K race. It is a 5 week training program that runs twice a year and ends in one of two 5K races, The Run Because You Can in April and the MaraFunRun in December. The training, the races, the participation medals and the kids t-shirts are all free. This year, 1,000 children will receive a free pair of shoes.
I love that there is a local group that gets our kids moving into life and learning about nutrition. Even better, the kids enjoy it! Our family is all in. We are Rhett Reps (coach for the kids), I am a pace group leader for our adult training program and I make a donation every time I help a client purchase or sell a home. Come join us for an afternoon of fun that benefits a great local cause. If you happen to enter the event from the North Gate (5th and L), I will be there. Make sure to say hi!
