Excellent tips for all first time home buyers, Nina. This is where a knowledgeable Realtor like you comes in handy.

Nina Hollander all of these are excellent. Budget with new home buyers is very important. They often times don't realize they have to have a deposit for electricity and water, or they don't save a little in case they have something break down like a garage door. All of these though are very important...thanks for sharing!

Gabe Sanders hi Gabe... thank you. The first-time buyer process can be very overwhelming for many and there's so much to think about, that's to be expected.

Norma J. Elkins thanks, Norma. It's very hard for first-time buyers because often they don't know what they don't know... if we help them in the right way we have loyal clients for life.

Paula Hathaway, REALTOR, LBA gee, thanks, Paul! I like to think so and that I'm here for more than my health, as they say! ![]()
I agree with Alexandra, if you hire the right agent ( YOU, in this case), their expertise and experience will guide first time buyers through the process. Understanding the hidden expenses of home ownership is a big one - too many forget to have enough set aside to handle unexpected repairs, such as a new HVAC system.

Sheila Anderson good morning, Sheila, and thank you. The buying process gets more complicated all the time and the liabilities greater. Buyers should avail themselves of professional help right from the start. It will definitely make the process less stressful

Ron and Alexandra Seigel good morning, Alexandra... it always does come back to working with the right professional, doesn't it... in many aspects of life, not just real estate.
Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD hi Debb... it's amazing to me sometimes how uninformed first time buyers are about budgeting, home maintenance needs, etc. A solid consultation upfront would go a long way for buyers to understand and to make the appropriate decisions... and sometimes the appropriate decisio is that maybe it's not time to buy!

You got it. D
Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD hi Debb... just like sometimes we need to tell sellers it's not the right time for them to sell. But I've found that when we are honest with prospective clients they remember and when they are ready they come to us.
Good morning, Nina Hollander In my opinion, it all begins with #5.... selecting the right Realtor to guide that first time home buyer from the very first step.... every step of the way in every real estate transaction needs a well-versed Realtor for guidance... and Nina Hollander is the agent to call in the Charlotte area.....

Barbara Todaro hi Barbara... thanks.... and whether buying or selling it starts with #5... I just didn't necessarily want to look totally self-serving!
Barbara Todaro
Franklin, MA
you would not have....it's a true fact that all real estate transactions where there are agents involved are a reflection of the quality of those agents... smoothly run transactions are a result of well-versed agents....just as those done by Nina Hollander
Barbara Todaro thanks, Barbara!

Hi Nina: That is a handy Zurple illustration, but it is also a little freaky as it so clearly illustrates the dangers and fears facing a lot of first-time home buyers. Good thing they have Nina Hollander to call in Charlotte.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents hi Elizabeth... first-time buyers should be somewhat scared... it's a huge financial and emotional decisions and when you don't know what you don't know you get yourself into trouble.

Will Hamm hi Will... thank you for stopping by. And happy birthday to you once again. Trust you are having a lovely day.
Roy Kelley hi Roy... when people don't know what they don't know as first time buyers, without the help of a good agent, they could be in for a world of hurt.
Nina Hollander - Those are all great tips. It really is a mindset. So many renters think they can't afford to buy a house but if they really evaluated what they pay for rent and what it will cost in the long run, with a hopefully substantial return on their money, they would be wise to budget wisely. It's those unexpected expenses that seem to get a lot of people into trouble.

Hi Nina Hollander - These are all good mistakes to avoid but I feel that iring the wrong REALTOR® is at the top of the list. The agent can guide the buyer through the rest.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP I so agree, Patricia. The problem often is that a lender approves them based on a formula when they should be borrowing a whole lot less and buying at a lower price point.
Sheri Sperry - MCNE® no doubt about that, Sheri. I've heard a few horror stories in my life from clients who started with other agents.
I LOVE THAT MESSAGE Nina Hollander . I am seeing so many first tiem buyers and some are not ready, no guidance and they choose just anyone that does not help the cause.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 hi Sheila and Larry... as this was a post written by a real estate agent I didn't want it to look too self-serving to say that was #1 on the list to have the right agent.
Grant Schneider thanks, Grant. Amazing what little miracle workers we can be, don't you think? ![]()
Nina I work with a lot of first time homebuyers, and those are common mistakes they make. That is why it is so important for them to work with professionals like you and I who can give them the proper guidance in purchasing their first home.

George Souto amen to that, George. Working with a first-time right now. At least they did go to a lender, but totally unimpressive. I just switched her over to one of my top lenders so we can make something happen.
