One special transaction lead to another
Lisa Von Domek has challenged ActiveRain bloggers to write about transactions that we have loved. I loved one major transaction that lead to another very special personal transaction.
When I was a young broker we completed many land sales in the area market. A major land owner gave us verbal authorization to sell one of his farms that was in the path of growth. We completed a marketing plan that included a name for the community that did not yet exist. Our prospect list included the names of the major builders and developers in the area. Fortunately, we were able to find a purchaser and completed the transaction. I loved this transaction because our efforts were successful and also resulted in the largest commission that we had generated to that time. By the way, the community name that I used in our marketing became the name that was actually used. That community is now fully developed and has thousands of residents.
At that time, Dolores and I lived in a beautiful apartment in a complex that we managed and we were considering the purchase of what would be our first home. The land seller of our successful transaction had built a new home and was offering his old home for sale. It was located in one of the most desired areas in our community and across the street from the new home of the seller. We used the proceeds of the land commission to fund the purchase of the his old home. It was a purchase to love when our first home was one of the nicest in the community and we loved living there.
Transactions like these make it easy to love the real estate business.
