What's In Your Closet?

The season is changing and it’s time to put away all of those winter clothes and bring out the warm weather outfits. Yea!! So What's In Your Closet?

Here in Central Florida,we never really had very much cold weather this season so I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get a chance to wear many of the cold weather outfits I was looking forward to. Oh well, That’s part of the downside of living in a tropical climate I guess.

Everyone seems to be talking about Marie Kondo and her method for simplifying your life starting with your clothes. Have you heard about her and her system for organizing and decluttering? She has this way of "folding" everything.  I’m actually more of a hanger type person. I'm not the folding type...

I like to see my clothes hanging so I can put various outfits together and I like to have breathing room in my closet. I invested in the Joy Mangano velvet coated hangers years ago. I admit that I'm hooked. I even got my husband hooked which was not that easy.

The folding method is great for some items but not practical for me with the majority of clothing that I own.

Over the years I have found that if I put together several outfits for the week ahead of time and have them ready, it saves me a great deal of time and stress. That way I can get dressed faster. In real estate, we always need to be prepared and ready for different types of showings and  appointments at a moments notice.  I like to be prepared which helps my stress level.

One day I might need to be dressed up for a more formal meeting, next day I’m trekking through mud on a construction site. For those days I have my own hard hat and work boots. Dressier days I have my high heels and I'm ready to go and can show up in a board room meeting without a problem.

My husband likes to have his shirts arranged by type and then color.  Pants are all separated on a different rack and arranged by type and fabric.

Everyone has their own way of arranging their closets and preferences. Whats in your closet and how do you arrange everything?

Hi Joyce- my wardrobe was simpler when we lived in Florida. Shorts and flip flops unless I was going out or to a Staging. One good thing about being back in Houston is that I get to wear some of the clothes I haven't worn in years.

I have used Joy's hangers for over 15 years and love them. I bought Larry grey ones and I have black. I also bought some different colors for certain items.

My closet is always a work in progress it seems. I do like the folding method for casual clothes. I’ll be switching things out very soon too.

My closet certainly needs some work. I just threw out one pair of pants this morning.

Sham Reddy It certainly helps with the stress level. Being prepared for almost anything and can be out the door in a hurry if need be.

Kathy Streib Those hangers make a huge difference in the amount of clothes you can put in the closet and everything looks so much neater.  We had a few chilly days this week so I'm happy to be able to wear a few of those outfits.

Roy Kelley It feels so much better when the closet is organized and easier to find things.  Good luck with yours!
