Skiing and Tubing Bogus Basin
This particular activity has been very special to me over the years because my husband Michael has been skiing his entire life and we went to Bogus Basin (locally referred to as just Bogus) a lot together when we started dating. It is a great family activity and like many of the great outdoor experiences that Boise has to offer, it is only two hours away from downtown.
While Idaho and the entire Northwest offer many world-renown ski resorts, Bogus Basin is a truly unforgettable Boise experience, and that’s why it makes the list of Boyle's Boise: 52 things to do and see. A combination of accessibility, high-quality, regular maintenance, affordable price and friendly staff make it the Treasure Valley’s most popular.
Even though it can take anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour and a half to reach the summit by car (due to slow traffic up windy hills and varying depending on weather conditions), Bogus Basin Mountain is just 16.5 miles north of Boise, ID and operates with a special use permit on the Boise National Forest under the USDA. Bogus Basin is open for full winter operation mid-November through mid-April from 10am-10pm weekdays/9am-10pm weekends and holidays, depending on weather and conditions. Early and late season hours can change, so please check the snow report page or call 208-342-2100 for daily reports.
A few things to know about Bogus for the serious skiiers/snowboarders:
3 Detachable High Speed Quads
1 triple chair
3 double chairs
2 people movers
Lift capacity – 9,980 riders/hour
Vertical transport feet: 10,383
2,600 acres for day skiing
165 acres for night skiing
37k groomed Nordic trails
