Dining Alongside the River on a Patio

Michael and I have always loved dining outdoors, but in general, most Idahoans love eating outside next to the Boise River – especially in the spring, summer and fall as the experience provides a break from the high desert heat.

True waterside patios are few and far between in the Treasure Valley, but there are some gems. Although there's a handful of restaurant patios that we have loved over the years, here is one patio that we really enjoyed and just tried for the first time one weekend. And so, of course, that’s why it makes the list of Boyle's Boise: 52 Things to Do and See.

As we quickly found out, from May through September,
The Riverside Hotel’s Sandbar is the area’s most happening patio. The covered patio has the river on one side and the hotel pool on the other. You can sit under umbrellas and near the misters and cool off as you munch on a mix of casual sandwiches, salads and appetizers. But the real draw is music. You’ll find local musicians on stage daily, playing a mix of originals and covers, from folk to rock to jazz. And Happy Hour is from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Additionally, you can check out Wednesday’s Idaho Songwriters showcase from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In typical Boise style, you can park your bicycle nearby and bring your well-behaved dog – it’s dog friendly!

About Me

I have been living in Idaho for my entire life, and the Treasure Valley has been my home for more than 30 years. In addition to constantly exploring the city and all of its activities, I am also very involved in the Treasure Valley’s philanthropy scene and have been working in the Mortgage industry as a Loan Officer for more than 35 years now. Additionally, my husband Michael had a 20+ year career in Real Estate. So, if you are new to the area and looking to lay down some roots for your family, get involved with some great causes, connect with like-minded people or just explore all that Boise has to offer – please don’t hesitate to let me know!
