Painting Your Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen Renovations are expensive there is no doubt about that. They are also nothing short of expensive. If you are planning on a kitchen renovation, you want to make sure you have all your ducks in a row. Meaning doing your research and hiring trades that are professional and have a highly regarded reputation.

Not only are full-scale kitchen renovations expensive but, they are also time-consuming. Depending on the scope of the work, we are talking months. Who wants to have their day to day life disrupted by power tools and sawdust? Yes, you are going to have a gorgeous kitchen when all is said and done but, at what cost?

There are instances where a full kitchen renovation isn't necessary. There are several different ways to update your kitchen without a renovation. Many times your kitchen is in great working condition and the layout is well thought out. However, you are not loving your kitchen cabinets. Replacing your cabinets is an option but that can get costly and if you are trying to stick to a certain budget it can be out of the question. That's where painting your cabinets comes in.

Painting is a fantastic way to update those old, dreary looking cabinets. Painting your cabinets is a cost-effective way to save money. For the DIYer, it is the cost of a few cans of paint, good old elbow grease and maybe a pizza to bribe a few friends to help. For the non-DIYer, all it takes is a call to a professional like Wow 1 Day Painting to come in and get the job done.

Another appealing reason to paint your cabinets is the color possibilities to choose from are endless. You can go the traditional route and choose white or you can go bold with a beautiful teal color. There is also the option of the two-toned cabinet look. For example, white on the upper cabinets and gray on the lower ones. As I said, the possibilities are endless.

Don't forget to update the hardware To go along with your freshly painted cabinets. This is like adding jewelry to an outfit. It completes the look. By adding new hardware it will make you painted cabinets look like brand new ones.

So remember, there are ways to give your kitchen an update without taking on a renovation. Cabinet painting is a great option when you are sticking to a strict budget and when time is of the essence.

Thanks, Cate.  This is something that my wife and I are planning to do after we get some new floors.

Excellent idea!  We did several years ago to our kitchen in a previous home.  We moved into a century home a couple of years ago, have not gotten to cabinets yet!  Have added some more but made myself to ensure they match the existing ones from the 1950s era.  But will have to get to painting soon!  Thanks for post.

Matching the cabinents first was a good idea. Yo'd hate to have to do twice the work!
