The US Political field has an agenda of doing away with fossil fuels of any sort and replacing with solar and wind energy.
There has been a push to do away with fossil fuels since I was a teenager and remember being taught we would run out of petroleum by the time I was Sixty; oh and that has long passed.
The big kick then was nuclear power that would sustain us for years and years and we are seeing that come to an end and now the problem is the storage of poorly maintained waste in Nevada.
While I am in favor of alternatives our infamous government and so-called socialist youngster have proposed solar and wind to supply the electric for the future. This would be a grand idea except the solar panels and batteries have a life of between 10 to 25 years. The solar panels themselves are considered (solar panels create about 300 times more toxic waste per unit of electricity generated than nuclear power plants) hazardous waste and no one has explained what they will do with it in the near future. The ion batteries also are very expensive to recycle and could be a huge fire risk if not disposed of properly. Personally, it seems anything government touches becomes a quagmire, from health care, education recycling, and other mundane topics.I am hoping Da'Vinci or a science fiction author comes up with a better solution than what is being shoved down our throats.
