There are a lot of things I can and will do....but first coffee. It's amazing how coffee can make you feel 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Aside from feeling awake and alert, studies that have been conducted state that coffee also has other health benefits like protecting against Parkinson's disease, type 2 diabetes, liver disease - including liver cancer ( Thank you Mayo Clinic ) help to burn fat and may even protect you from Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Hey ! I'll drink to that !
Coffee is rich in antioxidants and contains beneficial nutrients like Riboflavin ( vitamin B2 ), Pantothenic Acid ( vitamin B5 ), both manganese and potassium as well as magnesium and niacin (vitamin B3 ).
A Harvard study published in 2011 ( Study ) stated that women who drank 4 or more cups of coffee per day had a 20% lower risk of becoming depressed. Since 4.1% of people in the US currently meet the criteria for clinical depression, drinking coffee may be able to help you fight any current depression you are battling and even prevent it. While studies are constantly changing and the body make up is different for everyone, it is always best to speak with your doctor about how many cups of coffee are safe for YOU, if at all. Since some foods and drinks can also interfere with medications or other health issues make sure drinking coffee is safe for you. After all it does contain caffeine which is a stimulant.
As for me, I love my coffee especially first thing in the morning. There is nothing like sipping my coffee and listening to the birds chirp and the beauty of the sun rising over the mountains here in Lake Arrowhead. Did you know that Lake Arrowhead has some amazing coffee and tea shops that are adored by locals and tourists ?
Here are a few :
