Our Real Estate Profession is Changing

Antitrust against TAR

  • Is NAR conspiring with the local real estate boards to control commissions?
  • Is the environment changing significantly enough so the buyer’s broker/agent has a diminishing role in the home buying process?
  • Are broker commissions artificially inflated?
  • Is it fair that the seller pays listing commissions and buyers commissions?

Interesting concept. I think the main problem is buyer's agents have allowed themselves to be squeezed over the years.

Commissions used to be split and I don't see that in Sacramento anymore, not among many of the top producers anyway.

In my world, the listing agents get paid more than the buyer's agents. And I would like to see listing agents not have to compensate buyer's agents at all, such a barbaric method. Buyer's agents should be paid by their buyers. Buyers would also be a lot more selective if they had to actually pay an agent for representation.

Agents should have taken more closly look at some of these companies instead of making them rich with their unfair practices
