607 Market house site gone now Searcy AR

You are driving along minding your own business in the historic part of Searcy AR and see this site.

OOPS!  another one bit the dust!  Another house gone!

So you start wondering exactly which one it WAS that IS no longer.

I love the way we can go on-line now and see what used to be at that site.  So I did that.  Here's the picture of the house.  It looks pretty bad here and definitely it had been going downhill for awhile but it had the prettiest trim in years past and it probably had a great history.

I need to find another picture of it from its earlier days.  And its date of construction, according to the courthouse records, was 1945.  If some of you Searcy Sleuths have additional information, share it.  And, so long,  607 East Market.

There is something very sad when old landmarks cease to exist.  I seem to notice and feel it even more as I get older.

Myrl, it does make one sad to see old buildings go down but they can certainly be expensive to maintain and keep up.

Ruth Browning lived in that house for MANY years before moving to Harding Place recently. The home remained empty after she moved out. A house next door and one behind (on Center) also came down this week.

Angela, the houses in that area are coming down rapidly.  I guess it is good to give them a death notice on this blog.

Yes. I saw one on Center (near those mentioned above) with a unique old chimney. I had a thought that I should take a picture of it before it disappears.

Angela, what was the address?  We may find the picture online and pay our last respects.

rock house market st searcy ar gone bites the dust

Angela, I found it on-line.  Google can't redo their maps every time a house goes down.  And you are right.  It also bit the dust.  Let's tell it a belated good-bye.
