INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE

That first morning that I woke up self-employed, terror quickly

consumed me. I found myself sitting with my laptop and realized,

for the first time, that I was entirely responsible for all of my own decisions,

as well as the consequences of those decisions."

Kat Palmiotti - When we work for ourselves as self-employed women, we can never assume everything is going to continue in the business like a charm with success. There are no tricks of the trade. Learning to accept the highs and the lows and making the best use of our time always gets us closer to achieving more success.

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 - Finding that right amount of balance is always a challenge. I find that even when I'm trying to enjoy myself outside of the business, no matter where I go, I either overhear other people's conversations or others talking to me about real estate. It is a curious topic and that's why learning all the time is so vital to our success.

Just last Sunday, I was at Half-Price Books listening to a group of musicians who happened to have a jam session. I found a table to peruse through the books to decide if I wanted to purchase any and the lady at my table noticed. When she saw I was reading books on negotiations, she made a comment about why did I need 20 books or more to make a decision? We talked and after she found out I was a real estate agent, she asked me a few questions and asked me for my business card. Georgie, I got a lead without even trying!

Leif Price - Nope! To stay in this business, there is no such thing as playing hooky! I find that when I have leisure time, I focus better on what needs to be done for all the right reasons.

I completely agree, Patricia! And, I also share your passion for education - I don't ever want to be able to say that I've learned everything I need to know for this business - what a boring life that would be!

Whether in real estate or just life, there is ALWAYS something that needs to be done.

A good many of the people I know these days are retired, and all I'm hearing this winter is "I'm so bored." One friend said that last night and I asked about all those projects she was looking forward to doing once Christmas was over. She said "Yes, but I haven't done any of them."

Sometimes I get an acute case of "Don't want to's," but that doesn't mean I don't have plenty to do!

Marte Cliff - It is heartbreaking to know there are people on earth who give up on projects too quickly and say they are "bored." Every act and action we do is exercising our body, minds, and souls. Listening to people who don't have motivation is exhausting.

Endre Barath, Jr. - Door knocking is good. Some neighbors really like that a lot. But if we don't know, we don't know! What we don't know, can be costly and missed opportunities!

Good-ness that's an eye crossing list of what to do when we don't have business!    I might add, if you're "stuck" on floor, contact past clients and read old Active Rain articles....no money needed!
