Wordless Wednesday - Flowering Magnolias in Bloom

The Ann Magnolia (Tulip or Flowering Magnolia) is a beautiful, early spring, flowering tree guaranteed to turn heads. The rich purple-pink blooms are much larger than you would expect on a 10-foot or shorter tree. The Ann Magnolia is a cold-hardy tree, and the blooms smother the bare branches before other flowers awake from winter.

These beauties turn your landscape into a magical space for a precious few weeks - we always wish they lasted longer than they do. This variety is from the ‘Girl Series,' a special group of magnolias, developed right here in the USA to resist late frosts which make so many other varieties of magnolia trees hard to grow in colder areas (to -30º).

We have daffodils too, Dörte Engel and they are actually starting to brown already! It's so sad that their blooms don't last very long at all...they're just so beautiful and a welcomed relief after the dreary winter months.

Oh, I love them - I only wish they lasted longer than the few weeks they do here, Lottie Kendall. We have such an abbreviated time to savor them!

Debe Maxwell, CRS - Those magnolias make a statement. They are absolutely gorgeous!!! It's like creatively marketing this home for spring with a big welcome mat that says, this is the home, where you can grow and live life fully.

Morning Debe.

We should start seeing everything around here start blooming next week.  The temps are finally warming up enough.

We do have those here as well though we won't be seeing blooms for a while and the varieties are a paler shade of pink.

Good morning, Debe Maxwell, CRS all I can say is we proceed in MA one step at a time....let's get rid of the snow mounds!!  and then we can appreciate the beauty of whatever blooms here... in another 3 or 4 weeks....  but aside from jealousy, I enjoy the beautiful, colorful flowering blooms that you have almost all year long...

Yes, as Carol Williams mentions, you're killing us with the blossoms. Although, I think we're a bit closer to Spring than Carol ( with snow on the ground).  Actually, the photo is beautiful and I appreciate seeing the "pretty in pink" cheer.

Hi Debe:

Those are stunning. I have always enjoyed the magnolias but am more familiar with the white blossoms and much larger trees from back East.
