YouTube Thursdays - Animated Videos - Yes, or No?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with ViewHomes of Clark County - Nature As Neighbors

If you've been following YouTube Thursdays for long, you know we believe authentic videos, with just a touch of you, is a great way to make connections. Trust is an important aspect of doing business, and we think you can build trust with the right video marketing formula.

Since we're always researching the topic of real estate video marketing, we stumbled across this animated video. Full disclosure, it has over 8-thousand views. We are both wondering though, how it fosters trust or encourages connections.

One company that produces animated videos, claims they cut through the noise of all the other videos people find on-line. Admittedly, this one is more engaging then a talking head, or a boring and lengthy explainer video.

Animated videos are certainly not new and judging from what we're reading, it appears as though they are here to stay - at least for now. Do you find them entertaining? Would you use them for your business?

Much like Anita Clark 's Facebook Fridays, we encourage you to subscribe to each other's YouTube Channels - and take a minute to "like" or leave a comment. You can also add your own YouTube Channel in the comments below, and ask for subscribers. Be sure to subscribe back though - it's quid pro quo!

ViewHomes™ grew out of our passion for nature, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful environments. Starting together in an urban environment, over the years we've gravitated towards areas with smaller populations and less density. We now enjoy our lifestyle in a rural environment, but with close proximity to metropolitan areas where we appreciate all the amenities of fine restaurants, shopping, and an easy drive to an international airport.
Living in ViewHomes™ is like having “elbowroom for the soul”.

Debb and Bernie,

Cute video for about 15seconds!  Would we recommend it?  No!  It reminds of Paul Simon's song, " You can call me Al!" Here are the lyrics about the cartoon graveyard.

A man walks down the street
He says why am I soft in the middle now
Why am I soft in the middle
The rest of my life is so hard
I need a photo-opportunity
I want a shot at redemption
Don't want to end up a cartoon
In a cartoon graveyard

It also reduces the real estate agent o a nothing (a cartoon, a 2 D figure). The last thing agents need is to be reduced to that, as is the industry's reputation is not that great in the eyes of the public.

In my not so humble opinion, it would be a turn off.  Time to haul it to the cartoon graveyard.  Sorry for my feisty comment, the whole thing brought that out of me...A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel  That's a great take on this. We weren't sure why it falls flat with us, but I think you nailed it. And while one of these is a novelty, like novelty songs, it gets old quick. And, here's the real clincher - ANYBODY can copy this...but they can't copy YOU.

It may cost more to produce a professional video with voice over and music, but it is an investment which pays off time and time again.  It is also taking a long term strategy rather than short term gratification...Happy Thursday!  A

The voice was shrill and made me feel like reacting to fingernails on a chalk board. When you have a real person, I think you should use a real person. And no, I do not like that new SYFY show Alien News Desk.

Not for me -- I reacted to the voice in the same way as Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents did, and I, the Realtor, am not a cartoon figure.

Not my cup of tea. Irritating voice. I like a real person but someone that doesn't like doing videos might like it.

Hi Debb,
I think animated videos have their place but I don't think it's real estate.  That particular one wasn't even entertaining to me and certainly didn't leave me with a professional opinion of the agent.

After reading your comments, and processing, I have these additional thoughts.  Perhaps if the voice didn't sound quite so mechanical, if it felt more real, it wouldn't be as irritating. And if this cartoon figure resembles the agent, a closing shot with the real deal ( even a photo ) might be a way to better connect.

Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - Very interesting subject matter.  I didn't like the video.  I do have one that I have used and have on the website.  I basically tells what I do and how to reach me with Sedona scenery. NO Voice over! But it may be time to put up my professionally done video in it's place.

Hmm, it seems that is someone in my area, but I don't recognize them at all.  I didn't really like the video at all, but with all of the views, I guess a lot of people did.  It seems the world welcomes gimmicks and scams these days, so I am not surprised.

Debb, I have seen some animated videos that I like but, this one didn't do it for me. The voice and movements are a turn-off. I was too busy focusing on that to have the message sink in. To me your message is best, be genuine and be yourself. We're in the people business and that to me has always meant showing that we're human too, not just a "real estate agent."
