Several ActiveRain bloggers have commented that they have left Facebook because they found no value in the platform. I could write about some of the negative aspects of Facebook but the positive impacts are more meaningful for me.

I would argue that every real estate professionals and every real estate industry service provider needs to have a presence on Facebook. When people greet me at community events or in a local store, they frequently comment about following me on Facebook. Facebook has done more for my local identity than any other platform.

On Monday, I received a notice from Facebook that my posts have received over 1,350,000 likes. I have over 3,900 Facebook friends plus over 1,650 Facebook followers. Where else would I receive over 500 greetings on my birthday? My Facebook page has over 1,400 likes.I am active in Facebook groups that include several hundred thousand members and receive hundreds of comments each time I post a photograph in the groups.

Your friends, family, associates, community members, prospects and clients are all on Facebook. You, too, need to have a Facebook presence.

I have not jumped into the face book craze and I know many agents that have cut back on the amont of time.

But what works for one may not for another.

That is an amazing orchid, Roy! As for having a Facebook presence, I agree with you... if you're in business you need one. Once I'm out of business, I'll be downsizing my presence in a big way!

For the last two years my greatest joy is removing "friends" from Facebook so I can enjoy my real friends.

Roy Kelley - I think you have a good case and made a great point. I find so many people jumping on the wrong bandwagon just because of what somebody else said they didn't like. It was like that several years ago when some really good AR Bloggers jumped ship because of changes here on ActiveRain.

We are people. People need people. People are not all alike. Different strokes for different folks. Only the strong remain.

Many of the messages you share in your blogs would be perfect content to share on Facebook. All of your prospects, clients, friends and relatives are on Facebook.

And, you would see more of my photographs if we were Facebook friends.
