Chester County Antiques Show 2019

Real Estate Agent with Long & Foster Real Estate Inc 610-225-7400 PA License - AB067198

The Chester County Antiques Show 2019, was this past weekend, benefiting the Chester County Historical Society it is in its 37th year. Held at the Church Farm School it is a great size show with some excellent dealers from the East Coast, New England and Mid Atlantic region. I got to attend the opening night party as my brother was exhibiting and went back briefly on Sunday morning when there was a little more space to see some of the pieces on display.

I have managed and organized the Main Line Antiques Show for many years and several of the dealers used to exhibit with us when the show was running. Many had questions for me on Friday night hoping that I had good news for them that the show might run this year. But, not having a date that is workable with other shows and local events that are running makes it look like this will be the second year The Main Line Antiques Show will not run and Surrey Services for Seniors will not benefit from the show.

I saw a variety of wonderful items at the Chester County Antiques Show 2019 that caught my eye. Let me know what you think about these?

An Australian early 20th century piece with all native birds cast in metal and painted, with a good provenance from the collection of one of the Wallace family I believe in NY who owned Reader's Digest.

I thought this gorgeous metal urn with lion head terminals to the handles would look great in a conservatory or on a patio filled with plants.

Or may be you would like this for a hoot! Found in New Hampshire and not dated it certainly was a lovely piece.

Wooden Owl

There were plenty of paintings, but I did not see anything like Book Smart although some of the dealers might have been mistaken for him...

Book Smart

Chester County recently was recognized as being one of the top wealthiest counties in the state of Pennsylvania. There are plenty of businesses, and job opportunties as well as development going on in the county. Tredyffrin Easttown is in the eastern edge of the county and definitely Tredyffrin and Easttown are recongnized as being some of the highest income earning municipalities in the county.

Good morning Nick. I am sorry the Main Line show won't go this year. I like the metal lion urn.

Good morning Nick. Not into antiques as much as I used to be. You showed some nice pieces though. Enjoy your day!

I can see why that Australian piece caught your eye, Nick. It caught mine! I love looking at antiques and am fortunate to enjoy some in my own home each day.

Nick, it's a shame the Main Line Antique Show won't happen this year. The pieces you shared are neat to see. Browsing antiques is something I enjoy.

William Feela it is amazing how creative people were and are, as you say there is always something interesting to see.

Sheila Anderson it is a very heavy metal and is quite a lovely shape.

Wayne Martin there was much more that was interesting.

That piece I thought was interesting Nina Hollander because it was a combination of cast metal and paint.

Brian England as they say nothing is really new, lots of what we see as new is a retake on something old.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel there were lots of items that i could have included, that is what is interesting, everyone has a different taste and different things appeal to different people. As I was uploading the photos I saw Endre's and as a joke threw it in there.

The problem today Amanda S. Davidson is that most buyers are older, and there are not enough younger buyers stepping up to purchase these wonderful items.

Will Hamm it is actually a piece of furniture rather than a painting, the birds are all cast metal, then painted and named in a frame that stands on the floor. Very unusual.

I think I like the owl the most, and how funny you managed to work in that book smart fellow!  It must be overwhelming to see all the antiques at a show like this.

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 I liked the owl too, you get used to looking at things if you do it all the time. Just like looking at houses you can hold them all in your head seeing differences. Likewise, often people are only looking for certain things and that is generally what they see.
