Have you been to a BYOB Home Showing?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Godzyk Real Estate Services NH License 033394

It was St. Patrick's Day weekend after all, and I was asked to show a home. A neighbor told my buyer about the home and that it was BYOB. My buyer was ready for some green beer and shenanigans. Except I knew the home and it is known for the sellers request to take your shoes off at the door.

The problem is the home is very dirty. They have a lot of pets. There is lots of evidence of 'accidents" all over the carpets. My thought is I am not walking around this home in my socks.

The answer was indeed BYOB. That would be Bring Your Own Booties. Although Mrs. Buyer joked about wanting to drink so much to forget the home. Mr. Buyer loved it. He loved the cheap price. He wanted the challenge. He could see the future he said.

Right about then as we walked outside Mrs. Buyer threw her Shoe Covers at Mr. Buyer with a loud NO.

She was quite happy I keep a box of shoe covers in my car. She said she would not have walked in the home without them as no way was she taking off her shoes and walking on dirty carpets. In the end they chose another home, one that did not need any work. Mrs. Buyer won that battle.

Perhaps the MOST IMPORTANT message is to share with every consumer that my philosophy is simple, provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the buying or selling process. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest. Those that hire me, find a dedication like no other.

I wonder if the sellers walk around barefoot in that dirty house?

I like the idea of booties - wish I had some for my dogs now that spring and mud season are upon us.

Love the title of your post!  I have had sellers here in Florida require that shoes be removed before entering but all the homes were super clean

This was a mine field for sure Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 , they picked it up, but left what stayed on the carpet, so gross

It is one thing to preserve the floors Kathy Streib but i was happy to preserve my socks. If i had not had them, i woul dnot have taken my shoes off meaning i would not have gone inside.

They are a tool that helps us do our Job Roy. And not expensive at all to buy a box of 100 for under $10

I wondered that to Marte Cliff and yes, they live there, so they must. That would be a good invention for the pups

I do thatwhen my sellers request it Endre Barath, Jr. and include leaving a chair to assist, nothing worse than falling over trying to put them on

Ha! Bring your own booties--haven't heard of that!  I'm with you-would not want to walk around a home with pet debris all over. Reflects on the seller!
