First Day of Spring and "Hope Springs Eternal!"

By
Real Estate Agent with Huckaby Briscoe Conroy Group - Keller Williams

The first day of spring is March 20th and is known as the spring Equinox. On the equinoxes the length of the day and night is nearly equal as the Sun shines directly on the equator. As the daylight becomes longer people begin to feel the hope in the air! The quote “hope springs eternal” comes from the classic poem by Alexander Pope and it speaks to the common human trait of optimism.

The residential real estate market too comes alive in the springtime and in most areas represents the traditional peak selling season. One reason for this is that many people plan to move over the summer months to minimize disruption in schedules. People with children rely heavily on the school calendar to time move decisions. Others are afforded with more vacation time in the summer months and thus use that available time off in order to navigate the logistics of a move.

In climates where there are seasons, the coming of physical spring is welcomed with fanfare and celebrations. Grass is green, flowers bloom and gardens burst forth with beauty and new life. Everything is fresh and the birds are singing.  Springtime daylight savings provides more hours of sunshine during the evening. Outdoor activities and entertainment benefit from putting clocks forward. It provides for more hours of daylight to enjoy the sunlight. This benefits real estate sales as well because buyers can more readily view homes after work hours.

People who live in climates that experience winter weather have been cooped up inside over the long dark days. Thus, they are ready to get outside and participate in activities. All of this benefits the real estate market.  Sellers are motivated to do the tasks to prepare the home for marketing and sale. Buyers have put off their search for better days which have arrived as there are usually more homes on the market to consider.

This idea of hope in a new life is central to making a move. Often people need to be able to visualize where they are going before they can leave behind where they have been.  Hope in this new life is what creates the impetus for people to pursue the home buying and selling process. This is but one reason the professional real estate agent will always be in demand. It is their role to help people make their dreams come true, as that hope springs eternal.

Karen Briscoe and Lizzy Conroy and their team of agents at HBC Group at Keller Williams would be delighted to help you navigate the process, whether selling or buying a home.  Our group of active and experienced Realtors® in the Northern Virginia, suburban Maryland and Washington, DC market place consider it an honor to improve and impact lives. Spring sure brings a lot of hope to us up here on the North Coast Karen Briscoe . As far as seeing things turn green and springing to life we have about another month yet for that unless you start your plants indoors (like I do).
