Spring Cleaning? Don't Forget These Areas! 30 Quick Tips!
Whether you are a homeowner thinking about selling, in the process of selling your house or just getting ready for the summer, a deep cleaning is always a great idea, in fact, it should be done often. Trust me, it's well worth the time and effort. If you don't want to tackle this alone, there are many local cleaning companies you can hire but be sure to get references and if you have any specific cleaning products you want them to use in your home, let them know ahead of time. Kathy Streib has written a great post you can use to help you with your Spring Cleaning.
Spring Cleaning? Don’t Forget These Areas!
Whether you’re in the process of selling your house, or you are part of the multitudes who view the first signs of Spring as the signal to give your home a thorough cleaning, then below is a list of areas that often get overlooked.
In many areas we would call some cleaning companies as providing condo clean services...that is to say that unless otherwise instructed, they cleaned surface areas only.
And, on a daily basis, that can work. But every home needs to have every area cleaned, some more frequently than others.
Don’t overlook these areas as you begin your Spring Cleaning project:
1.Lampshades AND lightbulbs: lightbulbs are lasting longer so make sure you take a few seconds to wipe them off.
2.Baseboards: Those little ledges love to collect dust! I tackle when I’m having a casual phone conversation or when I want to chill out with my music on.
3.Window sills: Tackle these like you do baseboards.
4.Patio sliders- the tracks: We never forget to clean our windows, but if you have sliders on tracks, it’s a perfect place for dirt and bugs to collect.
5.Picture and mirror frames: careful not to spray cleaning solution directly on the mirror or frame.
6.Tops of door jams
7.Furniture with loose cushions-remove the cushions and vacuum
8. Clean window coverings: including blinds, drapes, and shades.
9. Top of the refrigerator
10.Thoroughly clean inside your fridge
11. Move your refrigerator out and clean behind it under it, as well as the coils.
12. Clean inside the microwave
13. Clean inside your oven and the stove top, if you can move your stove and clean under and behind it.
14. Clean your garbage disposal: this is the source of many odors. Use ice cubes to clean off the blades. And don’t forget the stand-by baking soda and vinegar. The kids love this!!!
15. Clean inside your dishwasher and washing machine
16. Clean inside your drawers, especially the drawer dividers
17. Clean your kitchen faucet head and sprayer
18. Clean under your sink- throw out products you aren’t using
19. Clean all light fixtures, including removing the fixture if you can and cleaning inside it.
20. Raid your pantry-toss expired foods, organize your shelves
21. Dust all of the cords behind appliances
22. Wash, sweep or change your doormats.
23. Clean your ceiling fan blades
24. Clean Air Vents
25. Clean your cutting boards and knife block
26. Clean your kitchen garbage can
27. Wash your pillows if you can.
28. Clean anywhere our hands touch...door knobs, fridge handles, salt & pepper shakers, lightswitch plates, remote controls, …
29. Clean your things you clean with: this includes your mop, broom, vacuum, sponges, rags, etc.
30. Clean the leaves of your indoor plants.
These don’t have to be tackled all at once...or at all. But if you want your home to be really clean and not just surface clean, try tackling one of these each day!
In a month, your job will be done!
