Did not think it possible but I went a full twenty four hours without the complete use of my phone. And it was not by choice.
Who knows why a perfectly good phone works and then in a matter of minutes it doesn't?
Who cares why it wasn't working?
It needed to be fixed.
It was already too late to take it in for diagnosis, repair or replacement. Lucky me to have a wonderful daughter with an even more wonderful friend who helped diagnose the problem. That was after someone from Apple told us to save time go buy a new one. She said the next Apple appointment was in two days. Two days without a phone...that's an eternity in real estate... with a new listing, negotiations, settlements, inspections and buyers wanting to see properties.
So my plan was to go to the Apple store as soon as it opened this morning and purchase a new phone.
Instead I went to Gadget Guru who had fixed other phones and computer devices for me. I also knew they would see me immediately without any wait. I was right...1-2-3 they found the problem, replaced a defective screen and I set off for my busy day...but the phone had a disabled message. No problem...that will go away in 47 minutes. I killed that time having lunch and checking messages on my iPad. An hour later. still could not get into the phone.
Back to Gadget Guru who confirmed there was a security feature in place and I couldn't get back into my own phone.
See it thought it was now a stolen phone and the security, basically, said no thief is going to use this phone. But it was my phone. I didn't steal my own phone but the phone didn't know that.
Next trip was to Apple store, got a GENIUS BAR appointment in 30 minutes, no problem waiting when you are in a mall.
And, it was at The Genius Bar I met Quanza.
WOW! He was great at customer service, knowledgeble, very personable, confident, smart, sweet, tall and nice looking. (He helped me with a few of those choice words) Quanza mentioned that he is thinking about real estate sometime in his future.
The main thing...He fixed my phone!!
Interesting there were a lot of people before I got to Quanza, including my daughter, her friend, the Apple person and Gadget Guru.
The person that gets remembered is the last one when the device is once again up and running.
Kind of like real estate. How many people are involved in a transaction? Too many to mention! But it is the final closing, the exchanging of money and keys that are remembered.
I appreciate everyone that helped me get back into business today.
