A Child's Diversion in a Furniture Store in Southington CT

As we recently entered a furniture store in Southington CT, we had to pause to appreciate the vintage carousel right off the entrance.

It was a classic and at some time in it's history must have been the center piece of an amusement park.

Carosel in Southington CT

The people in the store had little information on the ride other than to say they knew it came from Argentina.  The ride is used for children while their parents are shopping.  That allows for better focus and less abuse to the displays by the children.

Carosel in Southington CT

Like most carosel rides, there are rules. Children have to be a certain height and if they can't reach the supports on the moving fixtures they need to be on the stationary fixtures.

And, if you're looking at furniture as a prelude to a new place to live in the Southington CT area, I can help with that as well.

Hello Ed - I would think someone in the store knows "the rest of the story" as it relates to this carousel. Too bad that person didn't make it better known which could enhance the appeal of the piece and the store.

Michael Jacobs   It's a chain store and at best I believe the manager, who was absent might know a bit more

Dear Ed,

Looks really cool. We have a big one at Glen Echo Park, which is also a big hit with kids. Do not get over there often, but once in a while, they have art shows which the parents enjoy, while their tykes are on the carousel.

Nice Ed Silva a great place to take kids shopping. I don't know how my mother ever did it with her 4 roaming children. Jeff

That is quite an idea, should we suggest it to Mr. M Michael Jacobs?  Maybe it will lead to him selling more sofas!

Hi Ed- that is a stunning carousel!!!!! There is a grocery store called Wegmans (east coast). I love it. Anyway they have a small nursery that you can leave your children, while you shop. Parents are given a pager should they be needed. It's been years since I've been in one so I have no idea if they still have the service.

Everyone loves a carousel Ed and a fantastic idea to deter kids from going crazy on the couches, beds and dispalys. Hope you received the postcards.
