Charlotte NC Ranked 7th Best city in the U.S. For Young People

In a recent BizJournal article, Charlotte North Carolina was ranked the 7th best city in the United States for young people.  The ranking was as a result of the many opportunities for young professionals, the high income available for young people and the high quality of life.  Being under 30 myself, I decided to give you my reasons why I think that Charlotte is a great city for Young Professionals.

  1. There's lot's to do.  In the winter, you want to toss your skis on top the car and head to the mountains.  In the summer, you want to take weekend trips to the beach.  Here in Charlotte, you can do that as you're about 3 hours away from both destinations.  In addition, there are lots of trails for riding, golf courses, disc golf, greenways, etc.  Charlotte is home to the National White Water Center where you can hit the rapids after work on the edge of town.
  2. Regardless of how much money you have, you can find a place to live where you want to.  Having lived outside Washington DC where housing is unbelievably expensive, Charlotte is a refreshing change of pace.  If you prefer to be in a high rise condo in the center of town, there's opportunities much the same if you perfer the suburbs in a single family home.  You have plenty of options and you won't go broke in for housing.
  3. There's people here from your hometown or college?  Charlotte has become a mixing bowl of cultures from all across the country.  I've met people that are from my hometown, who attended Liberty University like I did, etc.  If you want to join a group or connect with friends, the best place to do it is here.  Want to cheer on the Washington Redskins?  There are a ton of Redskins fans in town and lots of groups meeting Sunday afternoon to watch the games.

There are a thousand other reasons also to consider Charlotte in addition.  However, the number one reason has to be that Charlotte has something for you.  When you're new to a city, fitting in and making friends is important for some.  In Charlotte, its easy.  We've all from somewhere else and as a result are all pretty friendly.  We relocated to Charlotte and absolutely love living here.  Had I known what a great place this was, I would have skipped DC and came here right out of college.  So whether you're into the live music scene, enjoy club sports, exploring nature, or just hanging out on your couch with the boys, do it here!
