One of the keys to the revitalization of the Kennedy Street NW corridor is the ingenuity of its small business owners. Soup Up is one of the shining retail stars of the Brightwood Park community. After incubating her craft in the Union Market food hall, owner Donna Henry established her own brick and mortar at 709 Kennedy Street NW. We visited with her recently to learn more about her story and the amazing selection of delicious foods that she offers.
Health and tastiness are the foundations of the Soup Up menu. The soups are low sodium, prepared with organic, locally grown, fresh vegetables, herbs and spices. They are made in small batches, from scratch. Their key principle is that no additives, preservatives, dairy or oil is ever used in their products. Vegan and gluten free soups are always available. Customers will experience the warmth of authentic homemade cooking with every spoonful. 
More than just Soup
Ultimately, the soup is the star of the show here, but the Soup Up menu contain a variety of surprising delights. The hand-crafted spring rolls have options for Jerk Shrimp, Jerk Chicken, sweet yams and other fillings. The salads are on point and the sandwiches and wraps fulfill that everyday craving.
The brunch menu features flavorful waffles, omelets, loaded toasts and other classics. The shop creates Fresh pressed juices packed with fruits and veggies like kale, beets, carrot and wheatgrass.
