The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are in Full Bloom

March 29, 2019

I was out running errands and drove by the Flower Fields on a gorgeous day yesterday, and decided to stop for some photos. Most of the parking was taken along Armada Drive, which runs along the top of the hill overlooking the Fields and offers spectacular views of the Flower Fields and the ocean beyond.

Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch March 2019

There were dozens of people out with their cameras, as well as a plein air painter, capturing their own views and selfies. And plenty of visitors in the fields and enjoying riding the antique tractors.

The fields are in full bloom and spectacular right now. They are also the influence for the upcoming 3rd Annual Petal to Plate event in Carlsbad April 4 - 14 offering floral-inspired drinks, brews, food and spa treatments at some of Carlsbad best venues.

HI Jeff Dowler, CRS - I remember you posting pics like this before. This must be so stunning to see and as Bob "RealMan" Timm stated, the aroma must be something else.

Those fields are stunningly beautiful.  I think many of us see sights like that one as a sight for sore eyes, after a wild winter.

Hi Bob "RealMan" Timm

Yep I get that. I love this view..but interestingly the flowers have no scent. And sitting there would be even better if no one else were around to interrupt!

Hi Kathy Streib - I so enjoy seeing them and also sharing them with others. The photos are pretty good but it's hard to capture the full beauty. NOthing like seeing them in person.

Wow - great photos, Jeff!  Endre Barath said you had an art gallery in Cambridge. Massachusetts. I am so impressed! Are you still into the art scene here in Cali?

Hi Gwen Banta

Yes, after I left the corporate world of HR, my wife and I owned an art gallery in Cambridge, 2002 - 2004 (I also started in real estate at that time). We closed because we had decided to make the move to California in early 2005. We still collect art, and enjoy visiting galleries and museums, and have gotten to know a number of artists here. We would love to have a gallery again...perhaps some day. But it's a pretty low profit margin business and leasing retail space is so darn expensive.

I'll check out Sondra's post.

Sondra Meyer:

Fortunately, retail space costs seem to be going down some.  Or at least it is in my part of Colorado.    Enough so that I am wishing I would have signed a shorter lease.

What kind of art do you and your wife collect?
