Utah is honored and excited to host the Transcontinental Railroad’s 150th birthday party at the Golden Spike National Historic Site May 10th - 12th, 2019. Let's celebrate! To purchase a ticket, click here.
My grandparents lived in Riverton, Utah. My granddad worked and retired from the railroad, supporting 15 children and wife on his salary. Would be fantastic if he was still alive to witness this celebration.
Working to complete the Transcontinental Railroad was back-breakingly hard and strifed with many impediments. Men were met with harsh winters, staggeringly hot summers, Indian raids and long days.
The completion of one of the most long-standing and necessary industries in America’s history is the Transcontinental Railroad. It happened in Utah on May 10, 1869. Spike 150 is helping everyone celebrate!
