"The Early Bird Catches the Worm"

People move for many different reasons. Spring is a great time to list and sell. After all, "The Early Bird Catches the Worm!" My experiences as a Real Estate Agent and life, in general, taught me early always brings about unexpected nice surprises and less stress. Why is April a good month to list your home for sale?

  • Serious buyers who are early risers start looking at the crack of dawn

  • Signs of Spring give many people hope

  • April alleviates stress for the end of the year school activities

  • May is associated with Graduations

  • May is the last chance for brides to plan for June Weddings

  • In May and early June kids are very excited about ending the school year

  • The weather is typically not too hot or too cold

  • Tax time in April makes people focus on their money and investments

  • May begins planning for vacations and setting up reservations

  • Supply and Demand: When the demand to move goes up, costs to move goes up

  • Spring cleaning and de-cluttering shifts the focus on what's really important

  • In Texas and other states, it is the perfect time to plant flowers for curb appeal

  • Wearing cooler clothes is more comfortable

  • Less stress; less sweat

  • Daylight Savings Time pushes away the clouds and brightens the day

  • Selling sooner means kids have more time to adjust to a new school and environment

  • The sooner the sale the more time you have until December 31st

  • Serious Sellers like to be the first to sell; Serious Buyers like to be the first to buy

Good morning Patricia. I think you are right. The key is to work with a great agent who makes sure that you are always the first one in.

Awe! Thank you, Sheila Anderson

You make a good point, it has to be mutual, both the seller and their agent and the buyer's agent and their buyer has to be an early bird to increase the probability of success.

Thank you!

Early birds also get calls from friends that live in different states!  Already this morning, a client text messaged me at 6 a.m., so lucky for me that I am an early bird and was able to address the message right away.

Good morning Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP, early birds definitely tackle more, at least I feel that way. My problem is that sometimes, I don't go to bed when I should but still wake up early.
Less stress...less sweat. I LOVE this one!

Kat Palmiotti - Nina Hollander I took that photo during my travels overseas with my daughter. I always knew it would come in handy someday!

It means a lot to me to receive positive feedback. I work so hard on composing original content, not copying what we get from Title Companies, Brokers, or other Training/Educational materials. Receiving feedback with compliments encourages me to continue writing to express my ideas and what this business means to me.

Beth Atalay - I get the feeling I made you smile with my saying, Less stress... less sweat.

It is easy to fall into bad habits. I have consistently burned the midnight oil and recently made a conscious effort to go to be earlier. What helps, is that even if I do find myself working later than usual, I have to use discipline not to reply back until morning. I hope that will help you too!

Earlier this week, I stayed up until midnight reading a compelling work of fiction. I was sorry the next day as my body wakes up between 5:30 - 6:00 AM regardless of what time I go to sleep. Argh. I was a tired early bird - not at my best. D

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I love to read and when I'm in the middle of something really, really good, it's hard for me to put it aside and wait for another day because I know, I'll end up having to go back to read a lot of it for a second time. Then, when I get up early, at my regular time, it is as if I had something heavy and it didn't agree with my stomach. Our bodies are quick to react to more than just food!

Hello Patricia - some proverbs are worthy of remembering and reminding ourselves why they are important.  The "early bird" is just one example we continue to see for many reasons.

HI Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I was looking over the wonderful time table you provided and continue to scratch my head why kids get out of school in early May and go back to school in early to mid August.  It is hotter than blazes in August in Phoenix!

Patricia, I do my best work early in the morning and try to tackle the hardest tasks first thing. You are spot on with your advice to sellers, April is an excellent month to list a home and buyers are ready and waiting!
