By definition, a receptionist is an employee taking an office or administrative support position. The work is usually performed in a waiting area such as a lobby or front office desk of an organization or business. Receptionist duties are not limited to welcoming people who walk in the door, however – a receptionist can take over a multitude of duties that are needed to keep a business running.

Have you ever thought of hiring a Virtual Receptionist? While your Virtual Receptionist may not be able to greet your customers as they walk in the door, they can still take over other tasks that your in-house receptionist would normally do.

First of all, let’s differentiate between a Virtual Receptionist and a Virtual Assistant.

 

A Virtual Assistant can handle a variety of tasks not limited to what a virtual receptionist might tackle. In some cases, a virtual assistant’s duties may include those of a virtual receptionist.
