Halama St. in Kihei Maui - an oceanfront neighborhood
If you want an oceanfront home in Kihei Maui, the options are somewhat limited, because much of the coastal real estate is taken up by condominium resorts, and beach parks. South Kihei Road is the main artery along the coastline, and there's a few streets that extend beyond this and offer some neighborhoods with single family homes. Uluniu Rd. is one, and Halama St. is another. Let's see what's happening on Halama St....
Halama Street - runs between Kalama Park to the south, and up to W. Kapu Rd. to the north.
Oceanfront homes along this desirable length of sandy beach will come on the market from time to time.
What's for sale now?

It used to be simple beach houses, and over time developers come in and buy up the old homes and build luxury homes for vacationing families. Some lots are large enough for a house and cottage. There's still a few of the older homes bumping elbows with these newer trophy homes, and I have to wonder how long they can last.
5 of these beachfront homes sold in 2018, between $2,695,000 and $6,125,000. Median and average sale price was about $4,700,000 in 2018. Lot size ranges from about .25 acres to .45 acres.
1 MINUTE VIDEO - DRIVING ALONG HALAMA STREET IN KIHEI MAUI
Take a little drive with me and see the neighborhood and some of the luxury oceanfront homes. It's not a gated community, but most driveways have nicely crafted gates with an island flair. Colorful tropical flowers abound, along with coconut palms. Some are vacation homes, and some are lived in by local people. Really this is a simple neighborhood like many on Maui.
Many shops, restaurants and services are within walking distance, along S. Kihei Road, and in the Azeka Place Shopping Center which also has a Post Office and gas station. Regency Cinemas are nearby.
There's public beach access spots along here, at both ends, and along the way too. The shoreline is a narrow beach with some rocky spots. You generally won't find a lot of people on the beaches along Halama since there are no facilities. With so many other beaches and parks along the shore, most of the beach action is at the more popular locations. Kalama Park is so close, with a big grassy area, ball courts, and the Wailea Canoe Club. Kalama Park is where they hold the annual Whale Day celebrations each year.
