And Then

And Then

And Then

A Comment, A Quote, Some Searching And Then Voila

Well, this actually involved or evolved in a bit different way.   But it really did start with a comment. At least this ActiveRain post.  I can't(or won't) speak to how other posts(mine included) come to be.    Like most things it led to some thoughts, a quote or two found and researched(very loose definition of the term mind you), an idea sparks and then a post is born.  More or less. Emphasis on the less.  Particularly this time.  Especially.

It can happen quickly or it can include some percolation.  The comment:  Mine. Made on Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD post about lists followed by Debb's comment back and an additional response by Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Realtor Top 1%.  This is for me. a community effort.  Almost collaborative.  Although no blame is intended for the consequences.  I am here as a mere conduit.

Why is there an end of the year?

Because the calendar imposes numerical order on time.

There is a natural fitness in the celebration of the New Year,

a holiday of numbers imposed on things,

with lists, as well as with Advent calendars and songs like

'The Twelve Days of Christmas.'

                                                                                                   Elif Batuman

As for my next post I am thinking of rabbit holes.  Yes, that seems appropriate.

The image in this post is from www.canstockphoto.com.

It may make more sense if you read Debb and Bernie's post about lists.  Or maybe it won't.  It's okay.

Good morning Michael. I really like Elif Batuman quote. It makes all the sense in the world to me.

Beth Atalay - when I see many lists/surveys, I tend to look at the source in order to understand(in my mind) the reason behind the list.  Sometimes it can be readily apparent.

Sharon Tara - that's a part of the community aspect I really enjoy.

I do not like list surveys, either, or any surveys meant to find ways to boost a business's bottom line without proper compensation.

Although, I have to say, I did not read your photograph as Top 10. I thought, and you're going to laugh, I just know it, that you were making a vague reference to Ed Sullivan's Topo Gigio and read it as Taupe-T-O. Guess I better get the oxygen flowing and go to the gym.

I am a fan of lists, especially prior to going on a long journey...so many things to remind our cat sitter off, leave phone numbers, etc...AS to rabbit holes, I am always reminded of a best seller from ages ago Watership Down.  It was all about rabbits and their warrens or burrowing they do...

Love your posts, A

I had a list made up today for the grocery store. Rabbit hole reminded me of Easter. Guess because I have rabbits on my dining room table in my Easter basket :)

Michael, the older I get the more lists I make. My mom makes a list for everything so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree applies. Rabbits are always on my mind, we have a few that live around our house and it's a must to remind our dogs not to bother them :)

Alexandra Ron and Alexandra Seigel - Watership Down.  I haven't thought of that story for years.  Wild and creative.

Rebecca Gaujot, Realtor® - it's definitely not too early to think of Easter or making lists for the holiday or just because.

Endre Barath, Jr. - the longer list, the more that is accomplished.  That makes sense to me.

Roy Kelley - you are certainly a voracious reader.  I am sure you receive many comments on the book reviews you share.

Will Hamm - I have a long list of pondering topics. "Rabbit Holes" may make to a post.  Maybe.

Good evening Michael Jacobs ,

As usual I'm late to the party these days but I find the thread interesting. I'm a list maker and now  have to rely on lists or I'll miss doctors appointments and business appointments..Ahhhh..how life can change on a dime! Love your pondering and yes even the rabbit holes....it does lead us to pause, reflect and ponder!
