Do You Bury Money?

Kalex Recycling Currently Minot ND only has one place to recycle and Minot does not have a curb side recycling program. Kalix recycles many items but it is far from comprehensive and it's location is not very convenient for much of Minot.

Although I am not a "save the earth" type of person I do like to be a good steward of God's gift below our feet. I take all Money Sailour paper to Kalix. They accept all kinds of paper and cardboard. Our church takes aluminum cans some where and the money they collect from that goes to a fund to help pay for youth outings.

It's a shame that a City the size of Minot does not have a curb side recycling program. It's like money sailing away and down the drain. Besides the money that could be gained there is also the money lost due to our landfill filling up before it's time (which is a current topic here).

It may be an inconvenience to take your things to Kalix but I hope if you live in Minot you will do so. Do it to save the earth if that's what you believe. Do it to save the landfill, that's a real thing, or do it for the tokens they give you for a few cents off of your groceries. Just do it.

Exactly Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP . Our generation, the Baby Boomers, started this "it's all about me" crap and now it's on steroids.

I wish we had the opportunity here Endre Barath, Jr. . When I left Moorhead MN (sister city to Fargo ND) 30 years ago we had a complete recycling program. It's had for me to believe that Minot has NOTHING!

Sally K. & David L. Hanson you would think some enterprising person would pick up the cause. We did have another place where you could drop things off but it burnt down and has not rebuilt.

Kat Palmiotti it can be a hassle to transport it but I feel it's important to do so. I'm not trying to save the Earth but I do believe that we should be good stewards of this gift we have been given.

Good morning Bob. I live in a building that tries to recycle. A real challenge for 17 floors, but it is a start. Enjoy your day!

James Dray when I was in a recycling program in Moorhead MN we had to separate everything, even different grades of plastic. One container sounds very nice and easy.

As you said Wayne Martin , it's a start. At least you don't have to leave the building to recycle.

Good morning Bob. In my small town there is no pick up for anything so we go to the dump and separate. I like your new photo.

Thankfully, Bob, we have recylce pick-up here every other week. We also have places to take those kinds of items that are too big for curbside pick-up... and fortunately one of them isn't but less than 2 miles from my home.

That sounds like an even bigger hassle then we have here Sheila Anderson but at least your City does have some kind of a program.

Nina Hollander you have reminded me that Minot does have a yard waste program and there is a collection point just a block from my home.

Recycling options are one thing done quite well in our area. Of course, you can't mandate participation and I suspect that could always be improved. It's all about attitude.  Glad you feel a stewardship - we all should

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD I believe the City would see great participation if they implemented a recycling plan.

Good afternoon Bob "RealMan" Timm -  someone in the town should do a cost benefit study.  We have two different cans.

I wish we did Grant Schneider . The only recycling the City participates in is yard waste and that we have to drive to a collection point for. Lucky for me it's in walking distance.

Recycling has to be an imperative in this consumer product throwaway society.  Congrats on having one in your town.

John Henry I just wish the City would get behind it BUT you are absolutely right, the public needs to drive it.
