Good news for Austin! Once again Austin has topped the list of U.S. News and World Report's ranking of the countries best places to live! It's the third consecutive year the Texas Capital has received this top honor.

My good friend Kathy Streib who now lives in Houston texted me an article while I was in sales meeting from the Dallas News and I was so appreciative. Dallas-Forth Worth finished 21st. Thank you Kathy!

The U.S. News and World Report ranks 125  largest metro areas in the U.S. each year. Their criteria is simple and is based on:

  1. Quality of life
  2. Housing Affordability
  3. General desirability
  4. Job market strength

Austin is one of the fastest growing metro areas and as a long time resident I can affirm this is true! Opportunities for NW Austin real estate is competitive so let me assist you as your home search becomes more focused. I like to hear about your needs, your requirements and yes, even those far out, one-of-a kind items on your list of must-haves and wants. Let's talk, explore and find your new home in NW Austin.

Hi Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - Texas and Austin, in particular, has a lot to offer those who are moving there. The criteria mentioned are the core reasons that will continue to attract people to areas like Austin.

That is quite the honor!

I found Boston, MA and Portland, ME are in the top twenty and I live half way between the two so that is pretty cool!

Dorie I am surprised that CT had two cities make the list, especially Hartford as high as #47

Hi Dorie! That doesn't surprise me at all! What does surprise me is that we fell to #20 and I'm confident it's housing affordability. Since the market has been going gangbusters, our prices have risen to historic highs, which doesn't bode well for many trying to buy their first home.

Kudos to Austin for holding that #1 spot - it is a fabulous city, for sure!
