One of my recently staged homes received an offer within the first week! The homeowners are so happy they haven't stopped thanking me yet. They are ready to close escrow tomorrow, so it is pretty much a done deal. In this market, it's pretty incredible, but it goes to show you that it's possible.
This is the first time these homeowners have worked with a stager and they were pretty honest when I first met with them, they said that they didn't even know "our kind" existed. Since they trusted their Real Estate Agent, they followed his advice to a tee, and went into the staging process with open arms.
The homeowners were so willing and wonderful to work with. They'd already bought their dream home, so they were moving themselves and all of their furniture into it. For this soon to be vacant house, we had a really small budget to work with, but I knew I had willing participants. Faced with a budget problem, my recommendation was for the sellers to leave some of their existing furniture behind so that we could use it to stage their "for sale" house and keep their staging costs within their budget. As suspected, they were more than willing to live without the furniture for a while as long as it was going to help sell the house. Thanks goodness! If they weren't willing to sacrifice a little, then this house may not have sold as quickly as it did.
Even when money is tight, there are so many alternatives and creative solutions to staging a home that we can recommend. I always say, "Doing something is better than doing nothing at all"!
