Denver Museum of Nature and Science at 2001 Colorado Blvd and is a general admission event for all those to see. This is the CREATURES OF LIGHT exhibit, and how great and illuminating it is. Working in Denver property management, we see many great and educational events at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. The museum has only gotten better each year as the technology improves and the stories they would like to tell and teach get bigger in scope and more direct in impact. They light up our lives, but have you ever wondered how?

Delve into the world of living things that blink, glow, flash, and flicker, from tiny fireflies in the backyard to strange creatures in the ocean’s depths that provide the only illumination. The new exhibition Creatures of Light explores the mysterious world of bioluminescence, visible light generated by living things through a chemical reaction. Lifelike models, spectacular immersive environments and simulations, unusual animals, videos, and engaging hands-on activities create an enlightening experience.

Venture into a dark cave and look up to see twinkling overhead—not from stars but from glowworms.
Stroll across an interactive “lagoon” and encounter the radiant diversity of a coral reef ecosystem.
Explore a woodland scattered with bioluminescent mushrooms and a meadow filled with flashing fireflies.
Dive deep to see astonishing invertebrates and fishes that put on light shows nothing short of psychedelic.
Discover how science has uncovered the variety of ways in which light is used to attract a mate, lure unsuspecting prey, or defend against a predator.

Creatures of Light is organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York, in collaboration with The Field Museum, Chicago and the Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, Canada.

Hi Kevin: What a wonderful post!  I have had several experiences with fireflies that let me know they are more than just another source of light! They are a support system--as was evidenced when I left a restaurant in Stowe Vermont (FoxFire Inn) after a verbal trouncing by my ex---He was talking down about my nieces--making ugly remarks about the fact they were poor. We were with a friend--(his friend more than mine) and I felt totally degraded so I just up and left. I got out to the road and if you know anything about Vermont--it does get very dark. I was in tears and not even caring where I was going and I walked about a mile when the darkness enveloped me completely. Suddenly, I saw little lights in the distance. I knew they were fireflies and immediately felt a calm come over me...fear started to dissipate and my devastation from the comments bean to lessen. I watched the field to my right begin to whelm up with little blinking lights. Suddenly those lights were surrounding me and I literally felt protected--as if nothing would ever harm me. I thought at the time that it was spirit surrounding me with the glow from those little creatures--letting me know I was ok and nothing would cause me heartache or pain as I felt just moments before that...Meanwhile, my ex came tearing up the road with his friend in the car. It seems his friend told him he thought it was terrible what he said to me. I found out later that they were worried something bad would happen to me if I walked home.... I love fireflies.
