The Virginia Living Museum, in Newport News, is a great place to visit for kids and nature lovers alike.
The museum features many interactive exhibits. The museum is part zoo, part nature park and part aquarium. Visitors can view 700 plant and animal species including the red wolf, bobcat, otter and bald eagle.
Don't let the word "museum" fool you. Much of what you see at the Virginia Living Museum is very alive and interactive. There is no better place to experience Virginia's natural habitat and all the wonderful animals in it. Explore the underwater world of the Chesapeake Bay with sandbar sharks and touch a horseshoe crab. There are so many things to do here, you will never be bored! The museum is extremely family friendly also. Young kids particularly enjoy the Nature Playground and the "Wild & Well" exhibit where kids can role play to be a vet and zoo keeper. Explore the new “Dinosaur Discovery Trail” with 16 life-like dinosaurs, paleo camp and dig pit.
The best part of the museum are the constant events and expos, check out their Facebook page for more information.
My husband and I love taking our grandkids here when they come to visit. They love all of the fun exhibits and it’s great-because it’s educational too!
