Hello Elizabeth - I don't know if I can draw any conclusions between what other agents think of their fellow agents versus buying computers. Perhaps it's that some people may think each is disposable/interchangeable but those of us closer to the industry in question know that a different situation exists when closer examination takes place.

Going with out a computer is just not an option these days so you do what you have to do. I am in agreement with Nina - I don't want to learn a Mac as I am a PC gal. I'm glad your partner was able to get a new computer and have her information transferred.
I am in the camp that worries about themselves. I am not going to critique someone else's work unless I am paying them to do it. We all have things that work for us and learn in our own ways. If someone doesn't care for the way that I do my job, I encourage them to seek out others to compare satisfaction. Not everyone is going to be a good fit with each other.

Nina Hollander When one hits a certain production number in Sacramento, agents who aren't doing so well tend to resent that agent's success. They watch your listings like a hawk and try to find things you do wrong. It's insanely idiotic how petty and small these agents can be.
It's a bit of a downside for wildly successful agents to have to deal with. Astonished me when I became a target for it. And then it happened over and over. It's nothing I'm doing other than turning in sales.

Michael Jacobs There is no correlation between jealous agents and new computers. Just so happened my partner and I had different things happen to us yesterday, so we just both wrote about it from our own perspectives.

That's quite amazing to me, Elizabeth. I've not gotten a sense of that happening here in my immediate market. That would drive me nuts.
Libby Cousins I'm with you. Just worry about yourself and not what other agents do. I had an agent the other day complain that my listing did not give potential buyers a pest report nor sewer inspection, because she would have had her sellers pay for it.
Not my sellers. Not in a seller's market. And she droned on and on about how she would do it. Finally I had to interrupt to suggest she focus on her own listings and allow others the same right.
Little is worse than an agent who is so wrong and thinks she is so right. Well, maybe a moron would be worse.
Nina Hollander Not until my production hit the stratosphere did I notice it. Of course, now that I also compare notes with other top producers, it is the same story everywhere. One of my friends lists only million+ homes, and she says buyer's agents constantly report her to MLS when she has done nothing wrong. I thought, oh, pooh, but then they started doing it to me as well.
The upside is that's when you know you've joined the exclusive club of high achievers.

Elizabeth, I have been scratching my head about the title and the message, I did not see how it connected anyway was this a Bait and Click headline? I will have to ask Michael Jacobs
Hi Elizabeth- most of us are competitive but when you add insecurity to the mix then it's as if they can't be happy unless they're knocking the competition. As for computers...Larry has a fondness for Lenovo Thinkpads and can work on them, so that's what i have.
I think real estate by nature is competitive! I've worked with the best and worst. There have been those who were more focused on putting cans on the shelf than providing any real service to their clients. And, there have been newer agents who performed really well because they put effort into it and had good broker backup. One thing that has been an common denominator however, is those that are too off the rails usually don't last long in this profession. But, they can provide a lot of grief while they are!
Hi Elizabeth... I treat everyone with respect (until they show me they don't deserve it). And I know that pays off because agents like working with me and it makes transactions much smoother.
As for computers... I'm very happy with my Windows computers... have no interest in going through a learning curve for a MAC. But I don't wander around any big box store like BestBuy to find a new computer. I call my guy who services our computers and he knows what I need in terms of function, memory, etc. and let him do the research for me an provide me with suggestions on which way to go. Thus far after many years he's not steered me wrong!
