Sunday evening and time to wind down

So here we are at the end of another busy week (I count my week Monday - Sunday.) While my husband is at a board meeting for the San Francisco City Chorus, I've finished my weekly recap and planning for the upcoming week and am checking in on Active Rain. In a few minutes I'll try a new recipe for us to enjoy as a late dinner tonight when he gets home.

I'll be modifying the recipe for Spicy Sesame Zoodles with Crispy Tofu which my daughter shared with me from @pinchofyum on Instagram. Being basically lazy, or too busy, I purchased low-sugar Thai peanut sauce which I'll use instead of making the sauce from scratch; I can always toss in some chili pods if I need to spice it up a bit. For sides, I plan to saute two different mushrooms, maitake and morel (Maitake is considered a medicinal mushroom and is classified as an adaptogen. An adaptogen helps the body resist all forms of stress, either mental or physical and has a normalizing function on the body. Morels I rarely eat--they are very elusive) for a taste test, and some fresh chard picked this afternoon from our garden plot at Fort Mason Community Garden.

A relaxed, late dinner and an early night will refresh and recharge me. I'll be ready for some early morning yoga, then to the gym and a walk in the Presidio before breakfast. Welcome Monday!

How do you relax on a Sunday evening and get ready for the week to come? Wishing you all a good one.

Actually, most of the good aromas coming from my kitchen would be my husband's doing. He has more time, so cooks more than I do. I enjoy trying new recipies,  Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP  and then modifying them, but only when I have time. How about you? Is cooking something you enjoy?

Lottie Kendall - When I stayed home with my kids, I loved my kitchen. It was my classroom always teaching them sounds, words, texture, smells, etc. I would make up educational games and they participated in everything from helping me to blend, mix, measure, set the table, clean-up, etc.

I don't have anyone to cook for anymore and no time to entertain guests. I don't enjoy doing it just for me and live a simpler life now. Plus, on average, I only eat once a day. However, if I was in your shoes, I would be more excited... if there was someone to share it with.

You should post your revised recipe in a blog. It sure looks good.

Hi Lottie,  I'm interested to know how the morel mushrooms taste.  I've heard about them but never tried them.  Anxious too, though.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I hear you; cooking for one is a chore; perhaps one day, when the time is right, you and a few friends will have a supper club. Could happen!

Hi Ricki Eichler McCallum - the morels had a nice, woodsy taste as one might expect. However, I didn't succeed in getting all the grit out of the many crevices, so they weren't my favorite. Maitake I do like--a lot.

thanks Lottie, for letting me know.  I will still try them but really try to clean them well.  They also look very different, interesting.  They grow in my neck of the woods.  I just haven't tried them yet.

Lottie-that dish looks so good!!!   We ended up having my brother and his wife over for an impromptu dinner of broccoli cheddar soup made in our Vitamix, a fresh salad and homemade bread.

Yes, do wash them extremely well; perhaps the one I had was grown in a sandy soil, Ricki Eichler McCallum

Lottie, my goodness, this all sounds so divine! How did it turn out? I'm a vegetarian and this would be up my alley. Never heard of the Maitake mushroom before. Wow! And we grow other mushrooms here (which I can't think of right now), so I'm all about local fare.

Such a great and fun post!

Happy Saturday, Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Real Estate - see if you can find maitake mushrooms--we think they are very tasty, and are real power houses for good health -- a win win! (PS: the dish turned out great; I'll try red lentil fusilla instead of Zoodles some time for a different texture, but the Zoodles were tasty.)

Lottie Kendall - I like your idea for a supper club but to simplify things, why not a meet-up with other AR agents somewhere at a B&B in their dining room and let someone else do the cooking while we each have our own individual luxurious rooms for the night! Of course, I have a feeling we would all stay up late talking, but wouldn't that be fun!

Oh Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I think you should develop your idea of an AR meet up at a B&B - talking into the wee hours of the morning sounds grand!
