Gemmell Family Playground to open this fall
This fall, toddlers will be able to frolic in the brand new "Gemmell Family Playground" at Griffith Park at City Hall, graciously donated by the Where Angels Play Foundation to honor Marie, Cole and Devin Gemmell, who lost their lives when a plane destroyed their Gaithersburg area home several years ago. Ken Gemmell and Foundation founder Bill Lavin attended a recent Mayor and City Council meeting to provide an update on the plans. It was noted that Ken's 12-year old daughter, Arabelle, will serve as the on-site supervisor during the playground's construction. The Foundation operates on a "pay it forward" model, constructing playgrounds in areas struck by tragedy, some in honor of "angels" who have been taken too soon. Watch the moving presentation here.
