Fishhawk Lake is NEAR the Oregon Coast!

Fishhawk Lake is NEAR the Oregon Coast!

(AND less expensive!)

Many potential buyers who look at the Oregon Coast as potential for purchasing property often find that the prices are too high or it just doesn't have the "feel" of a lake home. I get this feedback all of the time from my clients. But! They DO want to option of taking a quick day trip to the coast to get their ocean fix, without the expense of living there part time or full time.

We have the answer for them here at Fishhawk Lake! There are quite a few great beach towns that are an easy day trip from Fishhawk Lake. Here's a brief list of a few of my nearby favorites:

Astoria, an hour's drive is a shipping town, steeped in marine history and on the map because of movies like The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop, just to name two. Many cruise ships stop in this town and it offers a myriad of places to shop, view local artisans, watch seals lounging on the docks, eat on the water, but doesn't offer beachy areas.

Cannon Beach is filled with cool shops, great beach access and also just a bit over an hour from Fishhawk Lake. One of my personal favorites, it gives all of our relatives from the east coast a good dose of Oregon coastal weather, beauty and shopping for wines, clothing, even pet supplies, as Cannon Beach fully embraces dogs-at-the-beach!

Varying restaurants and art galleries, too. Make sure you see Haystack Rock.  Always a winner!

Rockaway Beach is about an hour and 45 minutes, and if you go down Highway 101, along the stunning Oregon coastline, you'll pass through many little beachy towns, all with their own personality, like Manzanita (becoming very swanky), Garibaldi, Wheeler...some so small that if you blink, you'll miss them! Rockaway has some kitchy stuff, funky little shops and feels like one of those old-time beach towns that never got really big, which is part of its charm. Many rentals from cheap to high-end...lots of different beach areas, too, some private, some crazy-busy depending upon the weather.

So, you see, you CAN have the best of both worlds, for less cost by buying property on or at Fishhawk Lake and having the joys of visiting the coast without the expense (or the salty air ruining the exterior of your home!!! Just a word-to-the-wise).

If this piques your interest to know more about Fishhawk Lake properties, give your local expert a call!

HI Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Real Estate - What a great local post to highlight the areas around Fishhawk Lake to assuage moving away from the coast. My personal choice is lakeside living.

Roy Kelley not everyone can handle our remote area, but with it brings such rewards that it's worth it!

Sharon Lee I have loved Cannon Beach since I arrived in the winter of '79! Saw my first rainbow that ended in the street in that (then) funky beach town. It has stepped up its game SOOOO much since then. It would be great to meet up there, or anywhere along the coast!

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® like you, I DO love the coast, but living on quiet waters full time has more rewards for me, personally. The beach is so very healing, though. Whenever I've lost one of my furry family I need to go there to let the place give me solace.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty I always think your area is amazing, so we're even! We are BOTH lucky to live and work where we do.

Michael Jacobs doin' my best! And a post from Liz and Bill Spear from The Daily Drop basically prompted me to do a bit of market research and create this post.

Thank you, all of you who have visited! And commented!

Endre Barath, Jr. the beach has always been a sanctuary for me, for dogs I've loved and those I've lost. Jenna was a remarkable soulful girl. This was the last weekend we spent with her before she made the transition. She was tired, but happy. Thank you so much for appreciating it. And YES, Fishhawk Lake HAS made it on the map, and those other realtors are now reaping the benefits of my diligence!

Amanda S. Davidson my door is open when/if you come to visit our beautiful part of America! Honestly, it's one of the kindest most relaxed places on earth. Serenity rules here!

Being that Fishhawk Lake is near the Oregon coast, it assures me that I will eventually get to visit.  I definitely want to take a drive up the Oregon coast someday!

Brian England you will LOVE the Oregon Coast Hwy 101. But! You must give yourself time to stop many times along the way. Astoria is right near the WA state border. Hwy 101 goes clear down to CA and is one of those once-in-a-lifetime trips that I don't hear talked about enough.

AND...a little turn to your left from Astoria, takes you along Hwy 202 practically to our door an hour away. Another beautiful drive with majestic trees gracing the roadside, creeks, skunk cabbage in the spring (beautiful yellow cupped flowers with a skunky smell!) and of course a large water fall, at Lee Wooden Park, JUST off the highway. And then, you could spend the day/evening/overnite On Golden Ranch if you prefer! We have Fishhawk Creek meandering along one side of our property and the other is wide open and sunny with a circling of acres and acres of evergreens with their arms around us! Fishhawk Falls at Lee Wooden Park photo by Gayle Rich-Boxman 2014

Lottie Kendall you know the highway along the CA coast, I'll bet. What a grand trip to go from here to you in San Francisco! I recall, LONG ago heading through Carmel, into southern CA. Total beauty all of the way!

Kathy Streib Have you ever been to Oregon? I can't recall. Being who you are and what you're passionate about, I know without-a-doubt that you would truly "get it" even though where you are now and just moved from and grew up in are far different than here.

One of the many pleasures of traveling across our great America!

Yes, Gayle, I know and love that drive between Carmel and Cambria. The Marin, Sonoma and Medocino county coastlines, just north of San Francisco, are also spectacular, and is the San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties Highway 1. I wish I had time to take a long, leisurely drive along the coast!

You are absolutely right, Fishhawk Lake is close to the coast, but as you mention, better prices, and no doubt better overall weather too. Hope you snag some buyers with this post. Have a good week.  D
