10 Bathroom Upgrades to Increase Home Value

In this video I want to tell you about 10 Bathroom Updates to Increase The Value of Your Home

The most obvious update is paint, whether on the walls, ceiling or cabinets. Nothing makes a room more appealing than a fresh coat of paint. And lighter colors will make even a small bathroom look bigger.

Rainfall Shower heads are those cool fixtures that make showering feel like you’re standing in the rain. Round or rectangular, they range in size from 12”to over 25” and can be simply installed on an existing water supply line or mounted on the ceiling of the shower.

New Lighting is another quick update for your bathroom. Light fixtures run the price spectrum and there are plenty of choices. Look to your internet sites for great ideas, visit home improvement stores or check out local new construction open houses.

While a little more costly, changing a vanity and/or countertop involves more labor and you may have to hire a contractor to get this done correctly. Cabinets can be custom or semi-custom or even pre-fab from the local big box home store. While granite is still popular, take another look at marble, concrete, tile and a wide variety of stone and composition materials.

Change knobs and pulls - AS I mentioned in my kitchen update video, this one is easy and can be done with just a screwdriver. Look at Pinterest, Instagram and Wayfair for ideas and check several online discount hardware retailers.

Water saving Toilet are becoming mandatory in many places but it's a good idea to install the latest in water-saving technology when you are ready to upgrade. Don’t just buy the cheapest item on the floor. New models are efficient and quiet when flushed.

Frameless shower doors add style to any bathroom. This is definitely a contractor installed item but will revitalize any bathroom. Check out different types of glass including clear, frosted, rain patterned and tinted.

A tile accent wall can be done yourself in just an afternoon. Find that newest trends in tile and create a backsplash wall from floor to ceiling. Look at tile stores for ideas as there are thousands of tile solutions available.

Replacing a vent fan with a new, quiet model that has the correct cfm (cubic feet per minute) will remove moisture and may help prevent mold from accumulating. Many homes have the builder standard, basic model that likely doesn’t have the correct capacity for the room size. Don't be afraid to oversize your new fan!

TV entertaining media center - Wouldn’t you like to watch the Today Show or Sports Center as you go through your morning bathroom routine?  It’s best to choose a moisture proof TV as there is always the issue of steam but you can also purchase waterproof units that can be mounted over the tub or even in the shower! See the links below for more info.
