2019 marks an important milestone for me - 15 years in the business. 15 years! I have no idea how I got here so fast. It doesn't seem that long ago that I studied for the exam, interviewed to find the best brokerage for me to start out at, had first head-shots taken (don't ask, please!) and took my very first buyers on their very first home-tour.
For the most part, let's say 97.8% of the time, it has been an enjoyable, educational, motivational and very rewarding 15 years, and I wouldn't want to miss one single transaction nor client (yes, even the challenging ones). It has been 15 years full of firsts, many, many, many homes, navigating contract hurdles, lots of learning, negotiating at all hours of the day or night, sprinting towards deadlines, delivering keys overseas... and not one single gray hair! ;)
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a successful Realtor in Silver Spring & beyond has nothing to do with contingencies, closings, or designations, but has everything to do with the people. Real Estate is not just business, it is deeply personal. Transactions may end at the closing table. Relationships do not.
I've attended a wedding, a baby shower, a memorial service, and a grad party and a few other celebratory get-togethers thus far this year.. and countless others in the years past. I have witnessed some of my favorite clients come full circle: recover from a divorce, buy a house as a single woman/man for the first time, navigate the dating world, fall in love, get married, sell old house, buy a new house together, and live happily ever after. I have met extended families, received postcards from abroad and lots of special thank yous, I have helped load moving trucks, lend a shoulder to cry on, and admired teeny little toes.
To be invited to witness such growth, and happiness, and major life events time and time again is simply wonderful. It's a privilege, and an honor. It's also a huge responsibility, one that deserves my full attention, care and respect. It's what inspires me to become the very best Realtor I could possibly be, so I am able to assist all my special clients in the very best way possible, time and time again.
Here's to the next 15 years, many happy clients, and many happy memories. I'm off to drop a couple of Congratulations cards in the mail because Real Estate is not just business, but deeply personal.
