First Mow

I was going to wait until the weekend to mow my lawn for the 1st time in 2019 BUT now after about a month of no snow... it's back in the forecast for this weekend. So after a days work, and dinner, I got the mower out and hoped it would start. Three pulls and I was off.

1st Mow of 2019

It actually was a pretty pleasant task thanks to the strong winds we had this evening. What is normally a pretty dusty/dirty job the wind kept all that dust and dirt from flying behind the mower and I didn't have to breath it in. Also with the 65 degree temp I didn't even break into a sweat.

Good morning Bob. With snow in the forecast for tomorrow with accumulation possible, we here in Chicago will not be mowing this weekend! Enjoy your day!

Kat Palmiotti I was real surprised at how much it had already grown this year. I always cut it short in the fall so the fallen leaves will just keep on traveling across our lawn to someone elses .

Thank you Sheila Anderson I was pleasantly surprised at how green it was this early in the year.

I love that smell too Nina Hollander , that and the smell of the freshness of a rain shower. No little men around here to mow but I do have my big strapping son to help most of the time.

I like the look and smell as well Barbara Todaro . I try to mow in a different direction every time. One time across N to S then E to W and the next time diagonally. They say it's healthy for the lawn.

I know Wayne Martin , that is why I did it last night instead of waiting for the weekend like I originally planned. Yuck, Snow! Tina told us last night that it's headed for her in Milwaukee and you in Chicago.

Looks good, Bob.  In my own neighborhood, folks had to dodge rainstorms for weeks and weeks to get their mowing done.  I am fortunate, I have a pair of brothers who have come each Wednesday morning (rain or shine), to mow, blow and go.

What a blessing Myrl Jeffcoat to have a couple of brothers who want to take care of their sister. With all that rain I'm sure that first mowing was a real job.

That is a great looking lawn!  I love the look of freshly mowed grass.  With the heat here, it's crazy to think that there will be snow elsewhere.

We have really had a mixed bag of weather here Brian England . Warmer than usual Fall, colder then normal Winter, several warm days this Spring and now snow in the forecast for the weekend. Send us some of that heat please .

We replaced our grass with plantings and the HOA takes care of the grass in the common areas. I should give our electric mower to someone.

Good morning Bob "RealMan" Timm - I don't think we were at that temperature but our chance of snow is gone.

I'd love to have an electric mower  Roy Kelley but shipping costs would be more than if I went to Home Depot and just bought one.

I wish we were past that chance Grant Schneider but my understanding is that Minot ND has had snow every moth of the year except July.

Bob,

What a great looking lawn you have, and like Nina Hollander I love the smell of fresh mown grass.  It always looks so good, and our gardeners would add it to the compost bin...A

Composting is a super idea Ron and Alexandra Seigel and so good for the garden. Thanks for the compliment on the lawn.

Hello Bob - while lawnmowing doesn't have a season in our area, I understand the elements that surround that "first mow".

Michael Jacobs it really is an indication that Spring is really here... even though snow is in our forecast

Freshly mowed lawns are the best. And I love the smell of the freshly cut grass. Yesterday's weather was good for all things outdoors.

I love that smell as well JoAnn Moore . It was way to windy for many things here but it was perfect for mowing.
