Ski season has come to a close but Summit County has enough awesome activities to fill your calendar year ‘round. If you can think of an outdoor activity, we’ve got the perfect place for you to go. From pristine hiking trails to paddleboarding on Lake Dillon, we’ve got enough to do to inspire the outdoor enthusiast in us all. In addition, Summit County has developed a thriving culture and community across the valley where neighbors gather for food, music, art, and more. Fill your summer schedule with some of our favorites.

Hiking & Mountain Biking

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone in Summit County who doesn’t enjoy hiking! The variety of trails to choose from is endless and so are the views. Silverthorne offers incredible access to White River National Forest and a short drive from Breckenridge takes you to the beloved Mayflower Gulch Trail. There is so much hiking to be done in the area that you could spend your whole summer just hiking!

Mountain biking trails are just as abundant and many are accessible right from town. There are trails for every skill level and amazing views of the mountains no matter where you go.

Activities On Lake Dillon

Lake Dillon is right in the center of Summit County which makes it easily accessible from any of the towns. While water skiing and swimming are not permitted, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boats are all permitted and perfect activities for when we start to see warmer weather and need to cool off.

Additionally, Lake Dillon is great for anyone who enjoys fishing. The lake is home to Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee Salmon and Arctic Char. The Lake is annually stocked with 50,000 rainbow trout.  Grab your fishing permit and cast a line!

Golfing

Between Silverthorne, Keystone and Breckenridge lies four premier golf courses for you to get a round in. Each course has incredible views of the surrounding mountain ranges and immaculate fairways lined with aspen and pine. Whether you become a club member or show up for a single round you’ll easily see why any of these courses are some of the top rated in the country.

Summer Events

There’s something here for everyone in the wide variety of events on our summer calendar. Keystone’s Bacon & Bourbon Festival June 22-23 features delicious cuisine inspired by bacon and the option for bourbon and whiskey samplings from local distilleries and beyond.

Head over to Breckenridge July 13th for the Breckenridge Summer Beer Festival. Grab your unlimited tasting ticket and sample delicious beer from over 30 Colorado local breweries. Enjoy live music and other festivities.

If you love wine and jazz, your in luck. July 13-14th Keystone hosts their Wine & Jazz Festival! Sample over 300 varieties of red, white, and bubbly paired with free jazz shows all weekend long.

Another favorite the Mountain Town Music Festival in late summer. Join us in Keystone August 17th for music, drinks, and good tunes. This is a family-friendly event with a KidZone for face-painting and crafts.

These activities and events are just a short list of many that are happening across the valley all summer long. Whether you’re a town local or a visitor looking for adventure, you’ll find it all in Summit County. Come celebrate the beautiful summer season with our community.
