Each month the Sandi Reed Real Estate Group provides you with a list to keep you on track with those essential home repairs. We want to remind you that maintaining your home does not have to be overwhelming, but it does require some consistent attention.
April showers bring May flowers, or so they say. This month we continue to get the home ready for the Summer season. Most of these tasks involve outdoor projects. And with the winter we just had, we are sure you will be glad to be outdoors!
#1 Get That Garden Started
May is the ideal month to plant most annuals and perennial plants. Most seeds will probably still grow, unless it’s a cool season plant. Read the label for the ideal time to plant each bulb or seed. If you’ve never had a garden, talk to the experts at the County Extension office or where plants are sold.
#2 Seal Tile & Grout
Doing this task every six months will result in fewer issues. Plus, your tile will look brighter longer.
#3 Give Your Deck and Porch Some Love
Clean and check and deck for safety, tightening any bolts, screws and loose nails. Apply preservative sealer to wood. Sealers should last several years.
#4 Continue Your 5-Step Lawn Program
Weed & Feed should be applied between April through June. And if you missed that first crabgrass preventer, some companies advise an application between mid-May to early.
We hope these tips keep you on track. If you have any other questions regarding real estate in Lee’s Summit or anywhere in the greater Kansas City area, give Sandi a call at 816-877-8732, or visit www.SandiReed.com. Licensed in both Missouri and Kansas.
