Each month the Sandi Reed Real Estate Group will provide you with a list to keep you on track with those essential home repairs. We want to remind you that maintaining your home does not have to be overwhelming, but it does require some consistent attention.
This month we continue to prepare your home for the Summer season. Some of these projects will only take a few minutes but can make a huge difference as we enter the dog days of summer.
#1 Water the Foundation
It sounds dumb – but this is crucial if we are not getting adequate regular rainfall. This will help ward off plumbing and foundation issues. Soaker hoses work well. Just remember to put them about 5’ away from the foundation (not next to it).
#2 Paint and Make Repairs to Fencing
Wooden fencing should be checked for damaged or loose boards. Repair and paint or stain if needed. Holes in chain link should be fixed..
#3 Get Rid of Old Paint and Flammable Substances
Old paint and cleaners need to be disposed of properly. If they are still usable, donate to your local Restore or take to the Household Hazardous Waste Center.
#4 Continue 5-Step Lawn Care Program
Weed & Feed should be applied between April through June. And if you missed that first crabgrass preventer, some companies advise an application between mid-May to early June. Don’t forget the insect control. Apply now to avoid tick and grubs later
