It's Been Too Long!

Ok, I'm guilty! It's been far too long since I sat down and put words into a blog post. I admit that I read Active Rain posts weekly, and often think about posting an idea or two, but just don't get around to it. Blame it on distractions - do we have enough of those to share? But blame ultimately returns to the one pointing the finger! Remember that when I point my finger, three point back at me!

So, does that sound like your client follow up plan? Great intentions with a distraction or three, then put off until you think it's no longer relevant so you don't follow up at all! Yeah, I think this formula is used way too often, by too many of us. So, what do we do? We need to take action, even if it's late or just a short note, something is better than nothing. We all know that, so how do we get back on top of our game?

Start with a short video (text, email, BombBomb) and just say "Hi - hope all is well, thanks for being a great client and look forward to hearing about the new home when you get a chance!" 10 seconds, maybe less. You are opening a new dialogue and showing your human side. I would wager that most of the time you'll get a video reply as well. Much more fun than an email, faster to do while on the go, and personal.

At first, you'll feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, but you'll get used to it quickly. Foks that receive personal videos enjoy them and often replay for their spouses, kids, friends, and co-workers. This is automated marketing for you and so much better than a social media post since you won't be distracted and spend another 20 minutes browsing the recent activity there when you post.

Figure out a few subjects that you can spend up to a minute on and use those to establish your local expertise. These can be about a road closure due to construction, a community event, or anything that has a wider interest that you can share with your friends and clients. But do try to keep them short so they will be opened. If you earn a reputation of having long videos, nobody will take the time to watch.

So, if it's been too long for you as well - try a video and reintroduce yourself, you will be surprised at how well it will be received! And I will get back to the blog on a more regular basis as well!
